Quady
We are with octopus, they are very very good.
I’m pretty sure we are better off with our current tariff than the cosy or flux tariffs.
Our house is much warmer with heat pumps than it ever was with a gas boiler !!!!!
What they ask you to change your direct debit to and what the bill is are two different things. Energy firms are notorious for grotesquely over charging to protect themselves
You of course cherry picked this data just as you cherry picked the omission of the enormous outlay on your virtue signalling energy system to try and make it look viable
It’s this simple. If the ROI was great, we’d all be banging the doors of solar/heat pump companies down to get them installed
The truth is it costs a fortune and the mugs that fall for it then spend a lifetime trying to justify their stupid decisions using selective facts
Rgcl2
Our DD in 2021 was £350 a month gas & electric
2022 they asked us to increase it to £866 a month but I had already initiated pv, battery, heat pump installation, bills came in at £125 a month.
I can export at double the cost I can import. May - September will easily cover the cost of nov-March. Now free chargers have pretty much disappeared my costs since October also include charging 3 EVs at home.
It says they won’t install one which is the point I made not that nobody will. But what would the cost be? I’m estimating around £40,000 to maybe save £1500 per annum on gas. Is that a sensible ROI for me? Of course not
Same for solar. My needs would require a huge outlay and it’s not sunny up here in the north so it wouldn’t pay. It’s very basic maths that even glib could do at a push.
EV sales have saturated and are now in decline. I ave predicted this for a good few months now but again that is totally obvious if you’re not one of the champagne socialist Volvo drivers in mustard cords brigade.
Time and again I am right. I called 0% interest rates in 2007 when my bank manager laughed In my face. I see things pragmatically not via endless propaganda
0% rates will be back. net zero will be kicked into the long grass by successive governments, EVs will find their niche as city runarounds but will peak at about 25% sales
Oh dear Slug, where do I start to address your lies.
Firstly, the octopus energy letter that says you cannot have a heat pump doesn't say you cannot have one.
That situation used to exist, it's common to have two or more.
Next if you need a bigger heat pump buy a bigger heat pump.
Supermarket's and garden centres use them and have no trouble.
Next if you have a big house, then solar will mean zero bills as you will earn more in the summer than you will spend in the winter.
Next EV sales are rising not declining.
Just look at world wide EV sales year on year.
Time and time again you convict yourself as being the most unintelligent poster on here.
I’m not a climate denier, it always has and always will change. It’s just got sweet FA to do with burning fossil fuels. If it did, do you think Chinese and Indian people would willingly burn the equivalent of a U.K. output of fossil fuels more every year? Do they love their children less than we love ours?
What we have here is a scam, pushed into the minds of the stupid by a program of propaganda endorsed by big tech, big pharma and big China
EV sales are in reverse. There is no way they will replace ICE vehicles. Nothing to do with “dinosaurs” and everything to do with practicality, cost and common sense
There are some valid concerns over the lack of infrastructure and health of the ageing UK grid slowing down the transition to EVs, but the long term trend is not going anywhere. When the rest of the market catch up with Tesla and more of the 'original' EVs enter the second hand market, they will be cheaper and more accessible. This, combined with the fact that younger people are less likely to be climate change deniers like 1984, will see EVs gradually take over.
Triumph if was surrounding whether solgold is a gold or a copper play or both
It’s clearly a gold play given that net zero is basically finished. It’s all over bar the shouting. That said, the copper may still be of use to us even though the world won’t be going carbon free and EVs are the Betamax imminent of the 2000s
If that pokey little hovel is in central london, its probably worth far more than all the north combined ;)
Anyway, whats with the heatpump chat? SOLG starting a new venture and actually wanting to monetise things? Chance would be a fine thing.
I can tell everyone what will be in the new reource update...a s**t ton more gold and copper than previosly estimated. There you go SOLG, saved you the effort, expense and SH dissapointment of issuing yet another useless RNS that the market no longer cares about. Now will you show us something of value that we all want to see, and that the market cares about? Perhaps monetising said s**t ton of gold and copper.
I’m happy with the gas boiler! It works
As are 21 million other households which was my initial point. Nobody is going to change over to this useless tech unless it makes sense.
Your average factory worker who stuffs chickens for a living wants a week in Benidorm for the family rather than a new heating system. People just don’t have the cash for this nonsense
If you’re got an acre of land you should be looking at a ground source heat pump not air!
I live in northern England in a large six bed detached on about an acre site. I have loft insulation and cavity wall insulation but owing to the size of the property (for example it boasts a games room with full size snooker table and bar), octopus are not doing such installs just yet.
I guess if you’re less well off and have a pokey little hovel they will gladly install a heat pump
This was the email I got back Quady
https://freeimage.host/i/octopus.J0pNatI
Where do you live Slug.
Houses with 20 bedrooms have heat pumps, as long as you have cavity wall insulation and loft insulation you can fit any house that is grade C or above.
You convict yourself again of being the most unintelligent poster in here.
I know you are lying.
Quady, I enquired about heat pumps with octopus and I was told they aren’t installing them on properties the size of mine yet
I was just curious, there’s no way I’d do it anyway it would be utterly moronic
Agreed rcgl2 .
In the winter it's not as efficient, but you can get electricity at 16 pence a unit to charge your battery.
I have no gas.
As usual Slug proves himself to be the most unintelligent poster on here.
He just lies.
Octopus will install any size solar with as much battery as you want.
In fact the bigger the house, the more affordable it is.
On heat pumps, you can have more than one and still attract the 7500 pound government grant spread across both heat pumps.
Tesla how are you saving £6k from having heat pumps? How big was your gas bill before you got them?! My house isn't that much smaller than yours although it's a lot newer... My estimate gas bill is £1200 a year.
By the way, I have a PV system with a battery. It has reduced my electricity consumption by about 1/4 over the year, but I'm still exporting about half what I generate. Unfortunately due to the height of my neighbours house I barely generate anything over the winter. Can generate more in a single day in June or July than in the entire month of Dec or Jan. Shows the limitations of solar in the UK.
And also in todays telegraph….
Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) represented just 14.7% of new car sales in January, down from 19.7% in December, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
It comes after full-year figures for 2023 revealed that the market share of EVs was going into reverse for the first time, with many drivers still put off by high upfront costs, unevenly spread charging networks and big insurance premiums.
Tesla, I’m more worried what our own future looks like than that of the oil companies
Power outages when it’s not sunny or windy
People freezing to death if they can’t afford heat pumps
Personal transportation being taken away from all and left for only the rich
Endless digital surveillance and the horrors that come with it such as restrictions on movement, travel, diet, purchases and whatever as they come down on
And this all being ushered in by an army of gullible useful idiots!! Covid was the dry run, they worked out how stupid you all are
Jealousy is a weak emotion, sluggy. Perhaps that's why you are so afflicted with it?
Octopus will only install heat pumps and solar if you have a tiny house. Jackson is a woke scumbag who amongst other sins diverted money into the causes of BLM.
As for the threat to fossils, it is non existent. The last round of wind auctions failed to get a single nod even though the cap was set at what fossils cost us. They had to subsidise them with a 66% uplift to get any more contracts
That’s not just unaffordable, it is downright stupid
And it doesn’t solve the problem of intermittency, nor does it address the fact that 21 million homes are heated by gas and CANNOT AFFORD thousands if not tens of thousands to switch to a colder system
That’s why so few have done it. Rich Willy wavers basically
Good afternoon Tesla
Octopus have a deal where if you have a battery, you can discharge to 20 percent, and they will pay you 40 pence a kilowatt, between the hours of 16.00 to 21.00.
And buy energy after midnight at 16 pence a kilowatt.
Because the energy you export feeds your neighbours, so minimal volt drop at a peak period.
.
Red you print so much rubbish. For a start do you seriously think anyone took any notice of your pathetic "plea"?
And secondly , you have most of the recent posters filtered , according to you , so how come you haven't got green boxes?
You are just a total liar pal.
Slug, you being unable to read or write doesn't really seem like a problem Apple will rush to address. On a similar note, they probably can't stop you posting stupid crap about topics you don't understand. It's you who needs to fix that trait. Sorry.
