Thank you both, that makes sense. The negative sentiment towards the remuneration is understandable. As per others, would be nice to see some director buys to give some confidence, alongside bonuses being linked to shareholder value.
Whilst the share price is certainly performing badly, is it just being pulled down with rest of the market. TUI, EZY, CCL down 60% over 12 months, ADM, AV down 30%, DLG 20% down
Share account - Eva is chair of the remuneration committee so her 79% mirrors that of the vote for overall remuneration. Don't think it's her per se but the job she does.
Eva is the chair of the remuneration committee, so I assume that as 20% voted against it, they don’t think she’s any good…..which I would agree with. Bearing in mind roger has 25%, the 20% that voted against is almost a third of everyone left. Makes me feel a bit happier that after my previous rant on director remuneration I’m clearly not alone in my views. As for the £6, I have no idea but he said in the last investor presentation that the share price should be multiples higher and it’s gone down by 30% since then so he hasn’t got a clue anyway
Where did Euan give the £6 prediction/expectation?
Possibly immaterial but does anyone have thoughts on why a couple of the directors appear to be viewed quite negatively in the voting?
BB
yes Euan did go on a bit, but filtering out the waffle ..it was useful.....and for every customer that he suggests is easy to please, there no doubt can still be a few that can be a pain in the as* to please !!
Fwiw, have bought back in, 50% of my original holding. Will add the other 50 at 1.50 if that happens. Despite the shorting, my average is still over 2.00, but at least I can see daylight now. If it gets to a level where I can make a profit, I’m out for good.
Hi Alnwick
I totally agree with you but I have already put far too much into this one share foolishly hoping that one day it would pay out big style. Frankly I now do not have the funds to buy more or I would. I need a pay out before the wife finds out where our money is.
Possibly Alnwick but the days of £12 -£15 which I was very critical on two years back are now unfortunately a pipe dream.
Did anyone else find the Euan speel tedious boring, long winded , and wordy. Didn't do it for me.
I will have to hang on here and confident we won't go bust but I would bail at £3.50.
Long term change of sentiment from me I have gone from fearing De Hann taking us private to wanting it.
His £100m was brought at an average of £2.78 including rights and he brought £60m worth at 27p = £4.05. Split the difference = £3.50.
Who knows that might be the plan all along
Hi Batfasted,
If someone said you can achieve a 368% return but you have to wait 5 years ….. I would snap their hand off.
SAGA will deliver a HUGE return if you have patience and allow the BOD time.
I’m buying more !!!!!
BB agreed this is medium term stuff but we are working from an extremely low base and feel the only way now is upwards! Looking forward to hearing my friends feedback on his latest cruise on his return! This is only his second cruise with Saga or anyone else for that matter and when he mentioned to more experienced Saga cruisers he wondered about trying a P&O cruise next Christmas they indicated to him that he could be very disappointed with the experience! So really not all Cruises are the same!!!!
Bat - Let's hope he backs it up with some Director buys.
The story here is as is insurance doing OK.
Cruise and Tour a waiting game and a highly cautious update.
Euan said the SP should be £6 in 5 years but I don’t know whether I want to wait that long. Where will it be in the next 2 or 3 years?
Buglet,
well done on your winnings and for advising on the closure......is the bear now becoming a bull...or time for a pause for thought ?
yes..whilst the macro news isn't great, the number of potential bulls sitting on their hands watching and looking does increase as the price declines ...and I suspect there are not too many shares available at these lower prices
Sorry just reread, closed my shorts.
Fair results, nothing to get excited about. I have my shorts however, and will buy if it hits 160. A score draw BB?
Martin - I think we are going to have to persist with this one as i'm too much underwater to do otherwise.
At the interims last year they made £69m on insurance and £127m at the finals. They have indicated reserve releases are similer and margins the same. So we can lop off say £7m for new business reductions . Insurance = £120m
Depreciation is a given at £32m (importantly non cash) as is financing at circa £50m . This leaves £38m being the mid point in guidance.
Looks like they are being really cautious on Tour and travel quite rightly and have this as breakeven before depreciation and interest. This is seriously pessamistic on cruise and i think they will guide up late September. It would be foolish not to wait and see on Travel
Like you I'm Ok with the update in horrific markets.
Comfortable and Happy with TU BOD know what is needed and will have the team in place to deliver so I say onwards and upwards!
I think the trouble is that this will turn more negative as the day goes on and be down 2p-5p today.
In the current climate I wasn't expecting anything more than average ....so the SP for now is as expected.....
Cruise positive and insurance as competitive as ever .....
They actually have a large customer base to launch new products into and diversify which the new appointments signify
They realise they have to expand their offer and seem to be now geared up to doing so , knowing the future expectation of the insurance margins
A proactive BOD is what is needed in these times
Market slowly digesting these - £1.72 to sell.
The guidance will be cautious as they have been wrong too many times before. Execting an upgrade at next TU.
Good buying in price. Hopefully the bottom
Bought in this morning one of the best recovery plays out there. Sold out of this a while back and was one of the best trades I’ve ever done. I’m astonished it’s back at these levels and I’m glad there looking at equity release products it’s a huge market with large returns. Good luck everyone !!!
£1.20 (8p) incoming, then time to buy, let’s see. GLA
Cruise 83% load factors for H2.
Feel like it will drop another 5% today as nothing in the update screams recovery sadly…..hope I’m wrong but can’t see it.
Nothing scary there, to excite us carpet-baggers ready to pounce. I can’t see this hitting 150p today, in fact you might get a small bounce.
