I think the figures may not add up but also as an investor Agee that green is the word along with Covid that everyone now has an opinion on
I note Drax has pulled out of new gas turbines, looks like they need a new coal/biomass substitute.
Could be a customer if we can show that we can get SUP over the line at Uskmouth.
The call-in isn't negative to LTH, but is to short-term PIs. A call-in will likely result in some short-term selling. I will look into topping up if it is called-in and the sp falls.
Until then, I'm holding tight.
I really don't see how a call in is negative, the Welsh government have a more strategic view and better resource availability, it is a given that it may take slightly longer due to bureaucratic processes but I don't feel it will impact the outcome. The Environmental Permit, permitting process will also likely be granted subject to the plant meeting all associated emission limits. They will stipulate tight controls in line with BAT but rightly so. There is a general consensus that shipping our waste 'NIMBY style' to pollute less developed countries is inappropriate and unresponsible. SIMEC will present a compelling representation of waste life cycle and the EP is likely to be given the go ahead, it is just a matter of time. Becoming an independent greener UK is clearly a hot agenda topic right now, I see this project as complimentary to that vision.
TBH it is a waiting game.
What will be will be.
The call in if local to me would be better.
The process then is that the application gets accepted locally.
Then we have the EP and from all the discussions on both sides for this it did seem as this would be good even if it was with some caveats etc.
I would anticipate it would get called in. FOE made some good points and I anticipate it would need a national decision. If I'm wrong, then happy days. It's the EP that will make or break SUP, and that decision won't be made for a few months yet.
A decent CFD for tidal would be good news and I imagine that would also have a very positive effect on the SP.
Anyone got experience of lobbying/ petitioning our ministers?
In this case no news isn't good or bad news. The decision will be made public either way.
We just have to wait. Personally, I am anticipating a call-in, (not based on the merit of SAE's application but just because that's what politicians are like) and I will top up on any drop.
If it gets approved, I will be surprised, but the rising sp will help to comfort me in my shaken state. win-win :)
21 days from the 4th of feb is tomorrow
Has long as they received the legislation on the fourth ???
Can I ask - if we don’t hear anything today do we take this as good news as the time limit has passed and no call in has been made?
Obviously you would expect an update either way but today is the deadline for the Welsh government to call in and if that deadline passes with no news then happy days?
Cheers
Newport Council Website is still broken!
I am an optimistic person, however choose your speculation carefully.
We did not anticipate a call in?
The share price if the call in were to be local would go up. However as an investor I would be surprised if it got to mid 20s. It may if the call in is local go to 22-24p.
That is only a hunch based on having these shares for quite some time and seeing what SUP can do.
We shall see...
If news on Planning lands we will be back above 30... I do not feel that will be refused... this is waiting to go BOOM...
The drop this week might be due to IG requirements that margins have to be increased to 100%. There may be traders that were leveraged looking for short term gains on the call in not going ahead that have had to close their positions.
I don't think we'll necessary find out today, or even this week. They aim to decide within 21 days of receiving the local planning authority's report, but we don't know when that was sent and if you look at this document:
https://gov.wales/sites/default/files/publications/2021-02/planning-decisions-being-considered-by-the-welsh-ministers-called-in_0.pdf
it looks like there are several applications from January that are still "under consultation"
Newport council website is down so I can't check on there, but I have a feeling that it has been called in :/ The share price has dipped enough that I think some people must know something.
If it has been called in, we're looking at several months delay minimum from what I can tell. We already have an Environmental Statement so I think the application should be sent to the Planning Inspectorate fairly speedily. Does anyone have experience with called-in applications and how long we should expect it to take?
1m trade just through
i think it could be even better to have a call in - decision not taken at local level will enable strategic thinking to come into play..
We should find out shortly about the Call in. Let's hope it's a local call in.??

Looks like good news on the habitats front:
"In light of the conclusions of an appropriate assessment, and taking account of the advice received from protected sites advisors, it has been established that the project will not adversely affect the integrity of any Natura 2000/Ramsar site, taking into account any conditions or restrictions as applicable, either alone or in-combination with other plans and projects."
