For all those that think a conveyor is the answer to the logistical issue of getting 20m tons pa to Telfer
The 31 km (19.3 mile) flight of the 51 km (31.6 mile) conveyor belt system between Mt Saddleback mine and Worsley refinery near Collie, Western Australia, is the longest single conveyor belt in the world. It is used to transport 2,700 tonnes (5.95 million lb) bauxite ore - from which aluminium is extracted - every hour, and travels at 26 km/h (16 mph).It was opened in 1983, and has 22 tunnels and 10 bridges along its length.
That works out at 985,000 tons

Bamps .. unless I am mistaken that is 2655 tons per hour .. 63,716 per day .. say operational for 300 days a year. = 19,115,000 tons that's near enough the 20m tons Telfer can process .. no? ( 1.016 tonnes to a ton )
Australia (well some bits of it) is over run with camels. The green alternative = A camel train.....

Camels were used for transport, exploration and in the goldfields—a male camel can carry up to 600 kilograms.
So... How far can a Camel go? How many watering holes will we need and how many Camels are needed to hit our targets?

A modern railcar has a gross capacity of 286,000 lbs or 125.5 tons moving in trains consisting of 100 cars or more, yielding a total carrying capacity of 12,500 tons, an increase of over 181% in carrying capacity.
12,500 tons per train = 4.3 trains per day 365 days per year to achieve 20m tons pa.
20m tons is 46 years production to my current calculations.
Of course Telfer may not need all that as producers around send their ore for processing.
The train option definitely looks viable

- Good God man! A hump and dump sounds like some old East German 'artistic' movie that one would find on pirated satellite in the previous century ('by accident' of course).

The cheapest way to move a large amount of material is conveyor, with rail you are only achieving about a 30% payload. Dead return trips and loading.
The length of the convoy system is basically unlimited using junctions with a belt tensioner.
The conveyor would need to be 45 km long to cover the distance between Havieron and Telfer. I would have thought that this engineering work would have commenced by now if it was the preferred method of transport. It DOES seem like the most efficient way but as far as I know, it has not been mentioned as an option by NCM.

Sirius underground conveyor is designed to carry 20 million tonnes per year. 37km.

The transport options will be presented in the PFS which Sandeep kindly told us should be available around about September time. The capital cost to build something like this would need to be signed off by the NCM board and nothing will be decided until a proper mining plan has been submitted. Having said that it's unusual for a major to sign off the decline without having a PFS in place so it just goes to show the absolute confidence that they have in Havieron being the saviour of Telfer.
As BTB says - another day closer to that first pour of Havieron gold. GLA Paddy

Ok Jaguar. I really don't know tbh. However, my point stands that it has not been mentioned by ncm which is intriguing.
Mushroom, yeah it may be considered as will trains both the rail and road type .. but I think we can safely say camels are out !
Just a question has it been considered to move a processing plant closer , is that an option ? Might be a silly question but just wondered
