You do talk some ****.
Just got back in after a midweek day Christmas shopping. Surprisingly busy with people and the car parks were the same. Happy to report people adhering to wearing masks in retail, as did I.
Probably like last year we all endured a disappointing Christmas what regional restrictions etc on retail, pubs, restaurants and cinemas and actually closed nearer the big day. With that in mind this year I intend to carry on as normal as can be and fully enjoy the build up to Xmas day and New Year. The vast majority of people from what I can see are doing exactly that as well. CARD should have a very good Christmas.
Simes. Surely you mean 5p?
If the shares are 20p after the results in January they may make a bit.
Rox - I have no issue with shorting although I have never partaken. Quite happy to look at shorted stocks as it can deflate price creating value - I hold a decent volume of CINE for example. Shorting can sometimes maintain a level of interest in stocks - nothing worse than investing in stocks who are performing ok but there is very little interest and a low volume of trading as I hold a couple like this. Bit disappointed in CARD's bounce today in comparison to some others. Impressed with the debt drawdown recently and like you I think it is very unlikely to see a shutdown of non essential retail regardless of how Omicron progresses so this will start to rise significantly. Good luck.
Most of the buys going in are normal orders. Punters like us. Most of the sells are Algo. What a surprise. Dirty gits.
3 shops? Jesus I own half of the factory! Ha ha
If there are no further lockdowns in the next 4 weeks then the Card Factory has traded the most profitable 3 months of the year and no shorter in their right mind will leave it open before the preliminary results in January.
To close it they have to buy back 0.74% of the Company which is just over 2.5m shares.
I reckon their average is around 53p so they need to drive the share price considerably below this to make £.
I’ve never shorted a Company in my life and never would on principle and would be interested in any body else take on this?
In the mean time I will doff my hat to Lombard Odier for creating this buying opportunity and have a bit of fun trading a very small part of my holding.
All IMO of course.
Feeling confident and have gobbled up more Shares. From my own calculations I now own 3 shops! Go go go!
Card Factory outlets all around Scotland are absolutely packed with customers ( all with masks ) and they're getting even busier as Christmas approaches. Definitely more staff at the tills ( seem to have doubled in numbers in the last few weeks ). Also, shelves are well replenished. No shop closures expected anymore ( fingers crossed ). Next trade update should be massive.
Ha ha Thanks everybody and keep those shop reports coming in!
Say where you are and let’s see how much of the UK we can cover. Lol
I’m heading off down to Roker now for a very cold swim in the sea but might just manage 20mins outside the Sunderland branch enroute. Ha ha
Arnison center store really busy on Tuesday afternoon :)
Also happy belated birthday Rox!
The Poulton le Fylde shop bursting at the seams on Tuesday afternoon, even at 3pm.
Belated Happy Birthday ROX.
Thank you Ehtefaznaser look at us burning the midnight oil!
21 again mate x3 ha ha
Happy birthday Rox.
Lol - your kids seem to know more about investing better than we do.
Thank you PurpleInvestor - somebody remembered! Ha ha
61 today OMG where does time go?
Treat myself to some Burton ‘Step on’ on Snowboarding boots and just walking around the house in them now.
So funny, my kids both live away and sent me Birthday cards from moonpig and one of them wrote that they would have used Card Factory but wanted me to get the card in time!
Happy Birthday Rox.
23 customers in Llandudno shop today, 11.30a.m.
Typing this message stood outside the Card Factory on Northumberland St Newcastle. Counted 42 Customers inside browsing (half wearing masks?) and I would guess another say 15 in the queue. 4 cashiers on the tills and 2 staff stocking shelves.
If this keeps up and these shops stay open then everyone invested here is in for a good year. IMO
Well done Banbury and a BIG Welcome.
Looking forward to your financial analysis!
Hi all. Been watching from sidelines with interest and took the plunge for £2ks worth. 49.3 feels a good entry price. Will add if other companies I am waiting on show up positive. Joining Rox / Jed and Beach from the Saga board.
Absolutely not.
Can’t see any announcements in December but if there was going to be one I would like to have a progress report on the ERP Implementation.
It started to be cut over in October and I believe a 3 month activity so should now be well under way.
Do you think there wil be an rns if the payment is made?
Hi RoxburyHouse,
The shop where I live is also very busy. I went past it at 9.30 on Monday and there were four people queuing at the till. That's 9.30 on a weekday!
Do you think there will be an RNS about today's the repayment?
Ta
So as agreed back in April/May 2021 CARD will make their first payment today towards the £70m part of the debt.
We know that :-
- £8m has already been paid off early.
- All 1019 shops have been open for the last 7 months.
- We have 9 months to pay off the remainder.
- The shops are open and busy.
Over £70 grand down now on this investment and I don’t feel any pain.
In fact I feel the opposite.
Stood with my back to the LONG queue in the Card Factory shop in the Metro Centre yesterday and just listened.
“18.50 sir would you like any stamps?”
“£16.00 would you like a bag?”
“£12.50 do you need any sellotape?”
and on it went.
It was heaving.
The only risk here is a lockdown and the shops closing and I really really do not think that is going to happen.
If they do close though for a couple of weeks in January? then it’s no big deal.
