No doubt there will be massive profits. Long term big oil is over. This war has shown that the way countries rely on oil is over. There is going to be the biggest push to alternative energy the world has seen.

So take the profit as it won't last.

America are doing very well & making good money out of this. Texas is making a fortune. However it's just more nails in the coffin for the oil industry long term.

Why does Iran need nuclear weapons ?

What good will that do them ?

I can only see this short term spike lasting a little longer

This war has pushed the share price higher & it's all short term.

You can already see a push for alternatives to oil being increased.

Bp will deliver a one off mega set of results & then oil will drop back to 60 dollars a barrel or lower & the share price will follow.

The global economy is going to take a big hit & there is going to be less oil used.

Milliband is useless. He is a failed politician sidelined in to a new roll.

If he can't grasp the fact that we are better off pumping our own oil and gas than importing it from thousands of miles away he has definitely lost the plot & shouldn't be in government.

It will make a difference.

Oil & gas maybe traded on the open market ( will be sold at market prices). The government will get billions in tax which it can use by reducing tax at the pumps . So it can reduce what the people of this country pay for fuel.

If the government can't grasp this simple calculation they must be stupid. " that's putting it politely "

It's probably going to settle around 60 to 70 dollars when this frenzy settles down.

Like I have already said. There is nothing like a war to push innovation. There will be a big push away from oil now so countries are not so reliant on it.

Yes I agree. There is nothing like a war to send oil prices escalating. However there is nothing like a war to focus innovation to stop countries relying on oil and particularly from this region.

Countries will double down on renewable energy & oil use will inevitably decline.

So BP will see a short term gain. However a long term outlook would be negative to the share price.

Thoughts Please ?

This conflict has pushed BPs price to a level way beyond what's normal for the company. Any de esculation in the conflict would see a sharp drop.

BP is also caught up in the reduction of the amount of oil it can pump from Iraq.

Buy shares. Lend them out to shorters for a price pushing the price down.

Then dump their short pushing the price up & happy days.

The company should have funds for at least 6 months.

I think today was naked shorts taking advantage of a nervous market.

Well it convinced me to buy so let's see what the future brings :-)

Shorts are worried & closing there positions.

If things are as bad as people ( bots ) like you say the price would be going down not up.

Shorts will get burned on this one if they keep playing there games.

I still don't get how a judge can decide to change finance that has been conducted to FCA rules & award damages. And this one judge has decide to rewrite not only motor finance rules but commission rules for everything basically. Surely any comparison sites that recommend a company or estate agents that recommend solicitors, ,epc company's, gas certificate company's etc would be liable as they survive on the commission.

Definitely needs another look at the supreme court & keep the judges off the whisky.

You have Money saving expert ( Martin Lewis) encouraging people to claim which is a joke as his site makes money out of commission & would be included in the ruling as it stands.

Let's hope that the Supreme court has some " common sense" & kicks this out.

So there is 3.17% registered Shorts. Excluding naked shorts.

One short is starting to close their position.

Just have to see what happens next week. :-)

Another important thing is that some funds only have dividend paying shares in their portfolio so as the dividend has been stopped they will have been selling this share. That will have added to the downward pressure. If the dividend should be reinstate even at a reduced amount they will buy in again so putting upward pressure on the share price.

No doubt there will be a lot of naked shorts ( illegal however it still happens a lot) so could see a massive rise if that is the case.
