Oh it’s the Labour Party & socialism
So as you picked it. Obviously you realise socialism gave us the NHS. So is that kind of socialism okay? Or not ?
Aus. You have made some important points today, others have vigorously disagreed with you. I am not going to take sides between you and those you have exchanged increasingly heated posts with, But maybe it's time to take it a little less personal. You are never going to convince those you are debating with, at some point you have to let it go, you were in the forces,so you know well it's not the battle you need to win, it's the war. Nothing wrong with strong views, just know when you are hitting your head against the wall.
LT a Camper van, even I thaught you could do better than that, bloody things causing tail backs on the roads !!!
They, The socialists, sold the hospitals off because they were cash strapped. A quick gain to fill the massive black hole they created. Now we are still picking up the tab. They also sold half our gold at rock bottom prices for same reason- Labour had bankrupted us again.
Corbyn is a disaster, even his own MP`s don`t want him.
Hey Pete, just popped in for a quick nap? Betty should go check what a small amount of gold we had in reserve to understand what a small hole that must have been. Then to find out brown didn’t spend it on anything but used it to gain interest.... which gold doesn’t. Probably wasn’t a good thing to do overall, but hardly something worthwhile to argue about, unless of course you believe the ridiculous propaganda on grubby web sites.
Actually Aus no - the NHS was the Tories idea - Henry Willink the Tory MP and Minister for Health produced the report re the NHS which culminated in the Beverage report which formed the basis of the NHS - Labour always like to take the credit for it as Bevan implemented it but the idea was Tory based
Back in the real world, who gets credit for a 4 year old with pneumonia having to sleep on the floor of a & e?
Great point RedPete.
The sooner we get Brexit done and get a tighter control of immigration the less of a burden it will have on our NHS.
Yeah, and if we shoot people when they get to fifty we’ll be sorted.
Well since I have been a proud owner of BT I am down 9.0%. Being stupid I was looking for a stable dividend aristocrat. Just wondering though... why do most folk hold stocks that are not growing and stand to lose capital? Say as with the likes of Imperial and the banks share prices are down on 5 years ago. But people keep the shares throughout.
Redpete that's only way Corbyn would win this election. Us 50 year olds can still remember the power cuts, the strikes and the 12 month wait to have a phone installed.
Quite right poundas#it. As you say, you’re completely out of touch and living in a past that never existed. It would be a mercy.
Hey Carrington we’ve already had this conversation about the nhs.
To paraphrase talk is cheap and when it came down to it the Conservative party of the day (including Churchill) voted against it
Quite right pound. Let's all get rid of our, Europen Health cards so if we become unwell while in a member state we won't be a burden on there health system... It's recpicall while we are a member if/ when Brexit happens that system may well still exist, what a stupid open statement you made, please advise us of the percentage of non EU member countries abuse our NHS, oh except the yanks,as they may well own it soon.
Unfortunately, the Labour Party's statement regarding broadband proliferation has had a destabilising effect of the BT Group share price in my view. Corbyn has promised to nationalise BT’s Openreach division as part of his policy to give every household in the UK free broadband access. This isn’t the first time that the government has tried to split BT and Openreach. A few years ago, due to regulatory concerns, attempts were made to separate the two businesses. This couldn't happen due to complications surrounding BT’s giant pension scheme.
If Corbyn did get into power, he would to encounter the same kind of difficulty. This would mean a choice between nationalising the entire business or abandoning the plan entirely. With all this conjecture that Labour has created around BT Group, is there any wonder that the share price is somewhat over-sensitive to election news at the moment. If the threat of Corbyn's policies are removed, I am hoping that the BT share price will recover its upward trajectory to super 200p values following the election.
TLW If you look back a few weeks you will find info relating to the pension, basically the pension would stay with BT and not move with nationalised parts of the company. The older schemes also have a crown guarantee ,ie the government would take it over if BT collapsed.
The share price is now irrelevant as we have been the victims of the greatest con in British history by Boris and his cronies. We know from the government own figures that we will all be worse off.The only reason I can figure out is those who are behind all this are making money out of it or else they want to destabilize Britain for their own twisted interests.
Thanks NDNIC00. I will have another look at that. Should the Conservative Party seal a working majority, the issue won't come to the fore. I did not think that the Labour Party would gain so much ground this week, but the projected Conservative majority is within the error of margin for the polling system used, so that the election could go either way.
It is strange to think that had the Remain vote carried in the referendum, then David Cameron would still be PM and we would have been spared all the political unrest, and mostly confusing and unhelpful information that has been in the public domain in recent years. I actually voted to remain, but accepted the result of a democratic vote once it was announced. I find the literature circulated by the Lib Dems during this election to be both bizarre and ridiculous. They call themselves (Liberal) Democrats. and have used every opportunity to state how they intend to overturn the people's democratic vote if they are empowered to do so. I hope that they are treated with the contempt that they deserve by the electorate tomorrow.
Surely if the Lib Dem’s campaign on the basis they will revoke article 50 & get a majority.... can you explain how right wing propaganda has made you think that’s some how undemocratic?
It’s actually far more democratic than the 2016 referendum where there were countless conflicting versions to vote for (hence the mess now)
I would equate this example of nonsense along, with but not equal to that little favourite of “unelected judges”
That would be trick village even leave campaigners can’t agree what that looks like. ‘Twas a Con’. & that’s that.
A remain vote wouldn’t have resulted in an idiotic change for all the wrong reasons would it?
Although having said that according to idiot Farage and co it would have been unfair business
There’s one thing for sure a remain win wouldn’t have resulted in a suicidal lurch towards a hard stay with entry into the euro, closer union etc etc ..... would it.
A remain vote wouldn’t have suited Putin more than the population either
Your contempt for democracy is despicable and sinister. Go away and search your soul.
I don’t know why I’m even bothering to answer lunatic schlemiel
The leave vote was so democratic it’s utterly poisoned the electorate, who no longer know the difference between right & wrong, truth or lies.
It was so democratic it’s effective ruined our democracy or any chances of it re-emerging.
Aus. David Cameron agreed to the EU referendum as part of the 2015 Conservative Party manifesto. When the Party was elected, albeit with a small majority, the referendum went ahead as promised. Rules were agreed and information was made available to the electorate to help them arrive at a decision. The then PM backed the Remain campaign, and the people were allowed to express their preference in a once and once only vote. The electorate voted in favour of leaving the EU. Sadly, the EU, backed by a significant number of MPs in our Parliament opposed the democratic will of the electorate, and the result has been a shambolic three and a half years in which valuable parliamentary time and expense has been wasted to the detriment of good governance in our country. Whatever you or I or anyone else believes, the matter will be decided for once and for all if there is an overall Conservative majority in tomorrow's election Any other result will perpetuate the current shambles within our parliament, although I suspect that having an unbiased Speaker should improve the way that business is conducted in the House.
I respect your opinions, although I do not agree with them, and would respectfully request that you desist from your persistant "name calling" of other contributors on this board. You are not the only offender in this respect, but it would be easier to take your opinions on board if you were able to do so without being offensive towards other contributors. Regards.
