Well the SP is finally above £15.34.
We should be on a steady climb from now on.
Looking forward to results in a couple of weeks.
(I hold) It is a company with a long term successful record and decent growth that always looks expensive (a bit less so now). This makes it a little volatile; for e.g. should it have a PE or 20 or h25? probably somewhere around there but that is a 20% price drop from top to bottom. The huge return on capital, steady growth and c. 2X div cover will keep it on an upward trajectory imo, but not in a straight line. The current lack of liquidity in the market exaggerates the volatility. I am happy to hold for more, gradual, gains.
The eps figure just reported was towards the high end of the estimates as quoted on the company's website so that's hardly the reason for the dramatic fall in the share price today.
It was on 25x earnings and delivered 1.3% eps growth. Of course it has fallen
Yep, it's an incomprehensible drop. I've been in and out of this share for years and it has always done well and pays a divi to boot. I've used today's drop as an oppo to get back in - I had planned to buy before results and then forgot. A bad memory is sometimes a good thing!
Rise
Don’t believe these market makers
An 8% drop really
Thank god I held off my buy !!
What has a company got to do to get a ride in this weak market??
A finish above £15.34 and we are up and away again
The upper and lower Bollinger bands are separating, meaning that a fast sp, movement is under way. Macd() and RSI, indicators are bullish, so sp, movement will be up . Forecast can be determined by drawing a straight line from the major trough of 14/10/22, through the second subsequent peak of 3/2/23, and extending the line to arrive at the forecast sp, target of 1550.
Yes a fairly neutral update, however the tech market has been in the doldrums recently so on the back of that, probably the best we can hope for.
I really would like to hear more news from the US.
Yet another very basic update...not sure why they bother putting that out!
If the SP can finish above 1310 I think we are in for a period of consolidation.
way overvalued for a reseller. Vendors are now working to move lucrative to direct model across the tech industry.
Negotiated trades, dealt en mass after the bell before the Interims , with a spike in the share price following a new CFO appointment, all look very interesting.
Agree, some figures or more info on the Office in the US would really move things on.
I think so :-(
Bank of England 45M,should pay the bills.
Interesting analysis, if the SP drops much more then a M&A is a distinct possibility as was the case with AVST. This company is a good bet for a multinational.
Full year results are out soon, so interesting times ahead.
Analysis update for Softcat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPHLHFpXQnU
Good H1 results - clearly the statement after full year numbers was way too conservative. Still not a cheap stock, but I'm happy to stay for the ride back into the £20s.
I know how you feel, having gone through some of the dips myself. I've been in and out of this share since 2016 and now use the 50 day SMA as a signal when to get in or out.
From the SP today, looks as if some are buying in anticipation of good results on 22/03 and the SP in general may be on the turn.; if it drops back later today or Monday, I will probably buy.
Overall, this has been a great share for LTHs and it pays a divi too.

This is an update surrounding recent share price full. Their is also a very detailed video on Softcat available via the channel.
45Bob - This sounds like my (unintentional) investing strategy. I always seem to buy at the 'peak' - it lays in wait for me to buy in. Having held SCT shares for a few years now, I can echo the confidence of others on this BB. I have no worries that this will continue it's long-term rise in the future. Every now and then, SCT seems to be liable to a hefty drop (even pre-covid), usually about 20%-ish of the peak value. (Granted this time it is larger - 30%-ish). It then lingers a while, before a strong up trend. These drops (like the one currently), seem large in short-term context, and can still clearly be seen on a longer-term (5 year) graph, but the rebounds have always been stronger, leaving a higher water mark. I hope, for our sakes, the future bears this out.
