Record Date for Proposed Dividends

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KS005930, KS005935, SMSN, SMSD) ("SEC") announced today

that its Management Committee at their meeting on September 12, 2017 decided the record date for

the proposed dividends to be presented to the Board of Directors (the "Board") for a vote at the

Board's next meeting scheduled for the end of October, 2017. If the Board approves the proposal to

pay and declare dividends, it will determine the payment of quarterly dividends and the payout

ratio at the scheduled meeting. The corresponding book closure period for the dividends, during

which period the shareholders' registry of SEC will be closed and no transfer of shares in SEC will

be effective, is presented below. 

Dividend payments, if declared by the Board, will only be made to the shareholders of record at the

close of business on September 30, 2017.
