Seplat Energy hosts its second annual Energy Summit:
"Global Trends in Energy Transition - the Africa Perspective"
Lagos and London - 07 October 2021: Seplat Energy Plc ("Seplat Energy" or the "Company"), a leading Nigerian energy company dual-listed on the Nigerian Exchange and London Stock Exchange, is pleased to announce that it will today be hosting its second annual Seplat Energy Summit at 9.00am Lagos time.
Today's Summit will examine how to tackle Africa's electricity deficit against the background of the challenge of Climate Change. As Africa's largest economy, Nigeria will play a crucial role in leading the continent's energy transition and improving access to energy will be essential to the country's economic growth.
Attendees at the Summit will hear from world renowned speakers including Daniel Yergin, the Pulitzer Prize winning author and energy commentator. Dr. Yergin will discuss his new book: 'The New Map: Energy, Climate, and the Clash of Nations.'
The Summit will also hear from Damilola Ogunbiyi, a leading Nigerian sustainable energy advocate, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All and Co-Chair of UN-Energy. Ms Ogunbiyi will present on the theme of: 'Balancing Sustainability Revolution with Energy Poverty Lessons from around the World.'
Additionally, the Summit will hear opening remarks from the Special Guest of Honour, H.E. Prof Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Seplat Energy is also pleased to welcome The Honourable Minister of State Petroleum Resources (HMSPR) HE Chief Timipre Sylva and Mallam Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation who will be sharing their thoughts and expertise on the African energy sector.
