Quintain Estates and Development plc

("Quintain" / "Company" / "Group")

Quintain Wins Resolution to grant planning consent for Wembley City North West lands

·; Quintain secures resolution to grant consent for 160,000m2 (1.7m ft2) mixed-use development at Wembley City

·; Quintain will transform the land alongside Olympic Way, the famous route into Wembley Stadium

·; Its plans will create a stunning new surrounding for Brent Council's new Civic Centre, and up to 1,300 homes centred around a one-acre public square

·; Upgrading of much of Olympic Way, the famous pedestrian route into Wembley Stadium

·; A new shopping street with anchor store, to complement the London Designer Outlet, will reinvigorate Wembley as a retail and leisure destination

·; The new consent will be delivered in parallel with Quintain's existing plans for 6.4m sq ft of mixed-use accommodation on land surrounding the National Stadium.

Quintain Estates and Development PLC's transformation of Wembley City took a major step forward last night as Brent Council resolved to grant consent for the next phase of development.

Located opposite Wembley Arena and bordering the new Brent Civic Centre the new Wembley City north-west neighbourhood will deliver 1,300 new homes, shops and affordable workspace as well as leisure, community facilities and open spaces. The development's focal point will be a one-acre publicly accessible square, located behind the Civic Centre. Currently under construction, the Civic Centre is set to open in June 2013.

Designed by Make Architects, Quintain's plans were submitted in November 2010 and responded to Brent's own Masterplan for the area which sought to create "a bustling new retail street, a landmark Civic Centre and new public square to create a vibrant and active town centre identity".

Adrian Wyatt, Quintain's Chief Executive, said:

"Today's announcement reflects another important milestone in the development of our major scheme at Wembley. We are excited by the strong progress we are achieving with the full backing of Brent Council''

Commenting, Quintain's Commercial Development Director, Ben Giddens said:

"From the outset, we said that we wanted to transform this part of Brent to provide Wembley Stadium with a setting to reflect its iconic status. Our vision for Wembley City is to create a place where people want to live, shop, work and spend leisure time. This vision is now a step closer to reality.

"By delivering modern homes and workspaces and bringing brand names back to Brent, people will be drawn to Wembley City - not just on a match day but every day of the week.

"The activity on site already demonstrates Quintain's commitment to the regeneration of Wembley and the decision last night is yet another important milestone in Wembley City's exciting journey, further securing its position as the economic engine of the Borough."

Councillor Ann John OBE, Leader of Brent Council, added:

"The regeneration of Wembley is hugely important for the Borough. I am delighted that the backdrop to our national stadium will be transformed through our shared vision. The plans will provide a boost to our local economy through the creation of new jobs and our residents will have a new neighbourhood where communities and local businesses can thrive."

Quintain has already completed the development of 520 new homes at Wembley City, the refurbishment of Wembley Arena and the delivery of Arena Square. Work continues on the new 361 bedroom Hilton Hotel and the 660 bedroom student accommodation, which will open in Summer and Autumn 2012 respectively. It plans to start construction of the new cinema and the London Designer Outlet centre later this year.

Development progress at Wembley City has been further underlined with the topping out of the new 361-room four-star Hilton hotel at the scheme. Featuring conference rooms, a ballroom, leisure club, a 250 seat restaurant and a 'skybar' with terrace, the new hotel is set to open in time for the Olympics in 2012 following a luxury fit-out process.
