BBC's Former Head of Light Entertainment Joins NetPlayΒ TV
NetPlay TV plc (AIM: NPT), theΒ AIM-listed interactive gaming company,Β is pleased to announce thatΒ Michael Leggo hasΒ joinedΒ asΒ itsΒ Director of TelevisionΒ for the Group's wholly owned subsidiary NetPlay TV Broadcasting.Β He will also act asΒ DirectorΒ ofΒ TelevisionΒ for the entire Group.Β TheΒ BAFTA winning,Β former HeadΒ of Light Entertainment for BBC TelevisionΒ willΒ oversee all of NetPlayΒ TV's television programmingΒ for its ownΒ channelsΒ and for other broadcasters.
Michael's brief will be to bring mainstream editorial and productionΒ expertiseΒ to NetPlayΒ TV's rapidly expanding television operations and toΒ build further relationships withΒ broadcasters.
NetPlayΒ TVΒ has access to over 24 million TV homes throughout theΒ UKΒ via its Sky Channel 847,Β Virgin and FreeviewΒ channels.Β The Company'sΒ focusΒ isΒ on the delivery of a converged interactive gaming experience allowing its customers to interact with itsΒ games on a variety of platforms -Β TV, Internet and mobileΒ -Β from a common integrated wallet.

Michael started directing onΒ Not the Nine O' Clock NewsΒ and revolutionised British Saturday nightΒ primetime television withΒ Noel's House Party, which he created, produced and directed. For this he won aΒ BAFTAΒ (1992) and the series wonΒ Bronze Rose of MontreuxΒ (1994). Head of Light EntertainmentΒ forΒ BBC TelevisionΒ (1994 to 1999), Michael was the editorial head for all of the BBC's prime time entertainment, includingΒ allΒ National LotteryΒ programming.Β Michael has been Chairman of the Light Entertainment Expert's Group of the European Broadcasting UnionΒ andΒ a consultant to the European Commission. Numerous production credits also includeΒ overseeing the staging in Birmingham of the 1998Β Eurovision Song ContestΒ to international acclaim andΒ creating and directing the popular opera seriesΒ Leslie Garrett TonightΒ Β (BBC 2). MichaelΒ co-devised and directedΒ The Richard Blackwood ShowΒ (C4). Michael created and was Executive Producer ofΒ theΒ Lights, Camera, Magic!Β specialsΒ forΒ DisneyΒ which have now been seen globally by over 50 million people.
Currently Director of Broadcast and Programming for Unique Communications Group, recent Entertainment output includes: David Walliams - My Life With James Bond (ITV1), It Started With Swapshop (BBC Two); That's What I Call Television (ITV 1). Michael will remain a director and shareholder of UCGΒ and will continue to Executive Produce key projects.
