Interim Management Statement 

1. Net Asset Value

Ordinary share net asset value (NAV) of 85.9p at 31 March 2009 (84.8p at 31 December 2008)

S Ordinary share net asset value (NAV) of 95.7p at 31 March 2009 (95.5p at 31 December 2008)

The NAVs shown above are unaudited and reflect the closing bid prices of quoted securities at 31 March 2009. Unlisted companies are normally valued on a six-monthly basis and the NAVs include the Directors' valuations of unlisted investments as at 31 December 2008 adjusted for material developments within the portfolios since that date.  

2. Investments and disposals

For the Ordinary share portfolio, during the quarter ended 31 March 2009, investments totalling £211,000 were made in two companies. During the same period, disposals generated aggregate proceeds of £4,705 against cost of £2,845.

For the S share portfolio, an investment of £149,000 was made in one company. During the same period, disposals generated aggregate proceeds of £1,554 against cost of £941.

There were no other material transactions during the period under review. 

3. Recent developments 

No further investments have been made between 31 March 2009 and the date of this statement. During that period, disposals generated proceeds of £1,030 and £958 for the Ordinary share portfolio and S share portfolio respectively against costs of £2,003 and £1,990.

The Board is not aware of any other events or transactions that have taken place between 31 March 2009 and the date of publication of this statement and which would have had a material impact on the financial position of the Company.
