Proposed name change to Cupid plc
The directors of Easydate plc (AIM: EZD), the internet-based dating operator, are pleased to announce a proposal to change the Company's name to Cupid plc.
The name change will capitalise on the Company's successful acquisition of Cupid.com in September 2010. The Company had previously operated Cupid.com under licence.
The Company operates 12 online dating sites under various names which have their own distinctive brands. The name 'Easydate' has never been used as a customer facing brand. The directors believe that adopting the Cupid name will strengthen both the Cupid.com brand and the Company's corporate identity.
Commenting on the proposed name change, Bill Dobbie, Easydate's CEO, said:
"Cupid is a name with worldwide appeal and positive connotations that we believe describes the Company perfectly and will provide a solid brand for us as we continue our rapid growth and geographical expansion. Easydate's AIM debut has been a resounding success, with strong growth reported so far this year. We look forward to building on this solid performance under our proposed new name, Cupid plc."
The proposal to change the Company's name will be put to shareholders as a single Resolution at a General Meeting to be held at 10am on 11 January 2011 at 23 Manor Place, Edinburgh, EH3 7DX, with the name change expected to take effect from 14 January 2011.
A Notice of Meeting shall be posted to shareholders this week and will thereafter become available from the Company's website at www.easydategroup.com.
