Empyrean Energy PLC18 September 2006 Empyrean Energy PLC ("Empyrean" or the "Company"; Ticker: (EME)) Operations Update ----------------- Operations to prepare for production testing resume at Eagle North-1 in California, USA AIM quoted Empyrean Energy Plc today announces the following update on the EagleNorth-1 well, San Joaquin Basin, California, USA. Victoria Petroleum NL as operator for the Eagle North-1 horizontal well on theEagle Oil Pool Development Project in the San Joaquin Basin advises that thedeep workover rig arrived on the Eagle North-1 location on Friday 15th Septemberand is currently rigging up with operations scheduled to commence Monday 18thSeptember California time. Prior to the arrival of the work over rig a coiled tubing rig carried out somework over a 36 hour period and established that it was highly unlikely that thetubing conveyed casing perforating guns fired during the first production testattempt. The operations planned for the work over rig over the next 14 days is toretrieve the production valve and tubing conveyed guns in the horizontal wellbore and clean out the well bore in preparation for the running of a new casingperforating gun to test the as yet untested 72 metres of oil pay behind casingin the lower Mary Bellocchi Gatchell sand. The exact timing of the proposed newcased hole test is subject to the results of the current work over operation andthe market will be advised accordingly.
