Clean Air Power Limited25 May 2006 For immediate release 25 May 2006 Clean Air Power Ltd ("Clean Air Power" or "the Company") Technology Patent Update Clean Air Power plc (AIM : CAP), the developer of Dual-Fuel(TM)combustiontechnology that enables heavy-duty diesel engines to operate on a combination ofdiesel and natural gas today provides an update to the market concerning itsintellectual property portfolio. Clean Air Power has been recently granted two significant patents that cover thefuture development of Dual-Fuel(TM)technology: In the United States, Clean Air Power has been granted a patent which covers theapplication of homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) to the patentedDual-Fuel(TM)system. HCCI is a significant technology that will be used to reduce emissions from internal combustion engines in the future. In Europe, the Company was granted a patent, entitled "Gas-Fuelled, CompressionIgnition Engine with Maximized Pilot Ignition Intensity". This covers Clean AirPower's Micropilot(TM)technology, which uses high-energy ultra-low quantities ofdiesel to ignite a charge of natural gas. This has been demonstrated todramatically reduce emissions from Dual-Fuel(TM)engines. This technology is anintegral part of the solution offered by Clean Air Power to enable dieselengines to operate on clean natural gas and meet the emissions and performancechallenges of the next decade. Additionally, to coincide with the planned launch of "Genesis" the genericaftermarket Dual-Fuel(TM)system, Clean Air Power is in the process of filing twofurther patents to cover unique elements of the Genesis control system. Clean Air Power continues to develop and patent significant elements ofDual-Fuel(TM)technology that ensure that there will be an efficient, cleaner andlower cost alternative to relying on diesel in future years. Commenting on these patent awards, John Pettitt Chief Executive of Clean AirPower said: "Intellectual property is a key part of the development and protection of ourDual-Fuel systems, particularly in the chosen areas where commercialisation isoccurring. As stated at our recent IPO, Dual-Fuel is attractive to companies inEurope, Australia and the United States, which are looking to make fuel costsavings and a positive environmental impact across a variety of transportationfleets. These patents will help protect Clean Air Power's know-how in thisarea."
