Smartphone prototype of FORscene

Forbidden Technologies, the AIM quoted developer of the market leading Cloud video platform FORscene,is pleased to announce that it has a demonstration of its FORscene software up and running on the Nokia N900 smartphone. This shows the feasibility of smartphones as a platform for Cloud video editing.

Forbidden installed a test version of Oracle's Java on Nokia's flagship smartphone, the Linux-based Nokia N900. This allows FORscene to work on the device - and hence enables video editing in the Cloud on the smartphone. This demonstrates the technical feasibility of a polished FORscene service accessed remotely via smartphones.

FORscene users, who have long been able to collaborate through desktop platforms such as PCs, Macs and Linux, can now also search, review and edit their thousands of hours of material from their smartphones. When they use it, edits saved on one system appear automatically and immediately on all other devices logged on to the account. All the features of the FORscene front end, including the built-in chat system, are available on the smartphone prototype.

Forbidden will be demonstrating its Cloud editing system, FORscene, at IBC 2010, together with the smartphone prototype. IBC 2010, the largest show of its type in Europe, is being held in Amsterdam, between 10-14 September 2010. You can visit the Forbidden stand in Hall 7.J15d.

Stephen Streater, founder and CEO of Forbidden Technologies, said:

"The Cloud, Internet video, and smartphones are three of the most exciting growth areas in technology. Forbidden's demonstration of the power and flexibility of the FORscene/Java combination on a smartphone lies at the nexus of this growth.

"HD cameraphones are now available from multiple sources. With the rapid growth in power and availability of smartphones, and the willingness of their users to run apps on them, the smartphone market is looking increasingly attractive as a route for Forbidden into the consumer market, with the huge growth that this would entail for Forbidden Technologies. With this in mind, Forbidden has started to approach potential partners in this area."
