Advanced Power Components PLC
Licensing Agreement with KVAR Energy Savings Corporation

Advanced Power Components PLC (AIM: APC), a UK specialist distributor and manufacturers' representative of electronic components, is pleased to announce that it has signed a licensing agreement with KVAR Energy Savings Corporation (“KVAR”), a US-based company specialising in energy saving products which reduce energy usage and lower electricity bills.

KVAR holds a patent for the method and apparatus used to optimise the performance of electrical motors, thereby minimising the electricity required for operation. The efficiencies achieved result in a significant reduction in energy consumption and substantial cost savings.

Under the terms of the licensing agreement, APC will be responsible for the manufacture and distribution of KVAR’s product range in all markets outside North and South America. APC has redesigned the products to comply with CE requirements and the business strategy for the deployment of the technology, into both commercial and domestic markets, is in the final stages of development. The initial roll-out is to be focused on Europe, the Middle East and Australasia. APC has set up a new division, APC KVAR, to manage this operation.

Since its formation in 1992, KVAR has received significant recognition from numerous organisations including NASA and Honeywell, with customers reporting utility bill savings of between 8% and 35%.

The rapid adoption of such technologies is driven by legislation being introduced around the world regarding the reduction of carbon emissions. The Kyoto Protocol has been ratified by the G8 and more than 180 nations, which are working to reduce emissions to 5.2% below the 1990 baseline by 2012.

Mark Robinson, CEO of Advanced Power Components, commented;
“At a time when companies and individuals are increasingly looking to reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions, this deal with KVAR will give APC access to a rapidly growing market. APC is delighted to be working with KVAR and looks forward to applying the technology to markets across the globe.”

Steve Fish, CEO of KVAR Energy Savings Corporation, commented;
“We are delighted to have formalised this agreement with APC. Over the past year, KVAR’s sales in North America have grown by close to 600% and we expect this growth to accelerate as APC makes our technology available to the rest of the world. We have no doubt that KVAR’s technology can make a significant positive contribution to the challenge of reducing global carbon emissions.”

About KVAR

§ The global vision of KVAR is to reduce energy costs, reverse the wasteful consumption of natural resources and reduce greenhouse gases
§ KVAR can be installed at any point where power is consumed. It works by sending the extra unused power back to the power company, thus reducing energy use and lowering utility bills
§ The KVAR capacitor reduces heat generation, amperage usage, and causes less waste of electrical energy while increasing the lifespan of inductive equipment
§ KVAR customers realise a substantial saving on monthly electricity bills and substantially improve their carbon footprint
§ Savings can be measured and range from approximately 25% for a factory, 12% for an office, and 7% for a household.
§ KVAR technology also benefits electricity generating companies whose generating capabilities are forecast to fall behind demand over the next few years.
