The government cannot simply “switch” existing RPI-linked contracts to CPI without passing new legislation.

Doing so would likely trigger legal challenges and damage investor trust.

In practice, existing contracts will remain RPI-linked, but future ones use CPI — and from 2030 onward, RPI itself will be statistically identical to CPIH, effectively merging the two.

On another subject - Lab have already damaged and undermined investor trust a communication error of vast proportions
