I don't know why people assume that because an offer is endorsed by management that it will go through. Just look at the mess the managers made of the Treatt offer and countless others if you bother to look. It's at least 50/50 on announced mergers falling through. This drops when it gets flushed.

I think you're right. I see this merger getting flushed down the toilet. The question is how graceful is the dismount going to be? If management dig their heels in, then they are going to end up in a lot worse position than they are now and will probably get booted and have a hard time finding a sinecure elsewhere.

Imo, there is no way this merger is going ahead now given the widespread aversion. It's now just a damage-limitation exercise for those who've tried to orchestrate it. Getting into hicl and shorting trig would be my guess. Dyor.

Sometimes of my pessimistic scenarios put a rage at 1.50-1.90. I'd want a big cushion on that to hink about it.

I think if the management get a grip and stem the l4l decline you'll be okay at these prices in a few years. Sounds somewhat obvious, I know.

Yep, I'm a buy and hold person myself. Even the things I have money in I expect to take a while to recover so I definitely agree with that strategy.

It can be seductive to go in and out of things, but over the long-term, I genuinely believe finding a handful of good companies that you understand will do better for you than trading on average.

I hope so for you SJ. I honestly won't buy in until it goes quite a bit lower and even then, I don't like the market or the current state of the business so may pass.

On a positive note, the import duty loophole should get closed that has been abused by Temu and Shein. Also, the current economic figures have hopefully acted like a bucket of cold water being poured of the government's head and sobered them up about the fact that you cannot just simply implement large tax increases on businesses and being in stupid employment laws without fudging things up.

We have diverged from other major economies on inflation and employment. Hmm... Anti-government rant over 😂
