RE: Yunus lets rip at COP 2914 Nov 2024 19:03
I never said he said 2 years, he said no elections until reforms are completed. Which I said is generally accepted to be in 2 years.
'Election Depends on Pace of Reforms: Dr. Yunus
The timing of the national parliamentary election depends on the pace of reforms. Following the fall of the authoritarian government, Bangladesh needs to implement significant reforms in its electoral system and other state structures. Only after these reforms will an election be held, stated Interim Government Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
In an interview with AFP on Wednesday (November 13) during the COP-29 conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, Dr. Yunus shared these insights.
Dr. Yunus emphasized that everyone in the country must unite around these constitutional reforms to agree on the structure of the government, parliament, and electoral guidelines. He added that these reforms need to be completed quickly.
When asked about the duration of the interim government, he responded, "We are an interim government, so the shorter our term, the better. We want to hold elections as soon as possible."'
