ESL is a perfect example... a stop loss set at say 10p when the SP dropped to 4p. The broker would have apologised that they couldn't action your stop loss at 10p due to unprecedented sale volume... so they sold at the lowest 4p... just before the bounce back!
You rarely win with stop losses :-(
Stop losses = waste of time.
Just get ripped off by the broker and the MM's if you use them.
Sorry LL,
Apologies, only I couldn't resist after reading the Q & A on the Angus website last night!
Really?!?!?!?!
Never read anything quite so amateurish and immature - answering back and calling out a poster on a BB... Even for Angus... this really is AN ALL TIME LOW!
Has "Tidswell" written all over it... what a sad state of affairs...
YL :-(
Sounding to me like you "temporarily" cashed out of GGP, Applegarth?
YL ;-)
ANGS BOD: "Success at Balcombe and Saltfleetby is the only thing which will silence such detractors."
True! But will any investor still be alive to celebrate Angus's "FIRST EVER" success? It will have been a very, Very, "VERY" LONG WAIT after all!
YL ;-)
The only question that remains to be answered for me is:
Will the MM's allow me to buy in volume on Monday morning... or will they send it straight to auction as usual... then open 5-10% higher?
If they decide on a Monday fishing trip instead... I will be one VERY happy investor (for once) as I have cash in my account just waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think any a Monday shake out is now a serious problem for the MM's - unless they close out PI's from buying... no problem there then!!!! ;-)
I have transferred another few thousand across ready for any fall back. Happy to buy anything at 10p and below and pretty sure there are plenty of others here, who will do the same.
There will be one BIG almighty bun-fight if this is dropped to 9p or under - as anyone who has spent anytime on AIM will be able to smell instant profit!
Next week should be interesting whatever the Market has in mind for ESL!
YL ;-)
Surprising Ja51... What Angus still up to their old tricks again?
Worth remembering: "On AIM no one can here you scream!"
Any low bid offers - regardless if they are accepted or (more likely) rejected - would always have the advantage to current shareholders of underpinning the SP and driving it upwards to a more realistic level.
10p is a great buying opportunity and I cannot see MM's allowing us lowly PI's to take advantage for too long before the window firmly closes!
YL ;-)
At the current SP level... ESL is unlikely to be independent for 3 months let alone 3 years...
A bigger fish will swoop and take us out - with DBAY's blessing & encouragement very - VERY - soon IMHO - unless the SP re-rates enough to take us quickly out of the bargain basement bin.
The next week or two should be very interesting indeed!
YL ;-)
Crocqman,
Even my gold "safe haven" (okay... explorer) Greatland took a pummeling today... but I have a very low average so am not concerned. Imminent news will ignite it again I'm sure.
Had a recent punt on Eddie Stobart which has come good and delivered another stellar gain today. Monday could go either way... in this climate nothing makes any sense... but I will stay put for now and hope to take a profit off the table when it's firmly in the teens.
Holding cash too - otherwise. Seems the safest option right now. Let the market play its games and I'll cherry pick the discounted stocks when I feel it's safe to re-invest.
Surprised by Angus's holding position... there again... what I have noticed is that stocks that have been systematically bashed down to basement level over the past months have been left more or less unscathed today... take HUR as another example of this (99% of other oil stocks have been trashed this week!) Even UKOG has held relatively well.
GL & njoy your weekend
YL :-)
Crocqman: "Yorkshire Life would not be surprised at this delay."
True! Not at all surprised Crocqman...
Hope your other investments are fairing better. Been a rollercoaster week! Angus SP holding well all considered.
YL ;-)
Wincanton must be jumping for joy right now if they are still hoping to land a successful bid to take-over.
Ok... so they had to wait for the company to re-list... but they can now field a cheeky offer that would still be multiples higher than the current SP and probably get the thumbs up from enough shareholders to make it happen sooner rather than later...
... Is DBAY's plan to broker a profitable buy-out?
Added more today on the drop & happy to sit tight and see this one play out.
GL A :-)
So our M Cap is now less than the cash we already have in reserve... that's before any of the assets or company good will are figured into the equation...
GO FIGURE!
AIM madness at it's best!
LOL ;-)
I don't believe the high claims of the rampers... nor do I side with the de-rampers with their hysterical doom-mongering.
In all honesty... I bought in here today (probably like plenty of others) because it was too good to be true. Yes... I know how the old saying goes... but if you bought in early enough, then clearly the "old saying" was wrong wasn't it?
My prediction is a sharp spike as folk try to get in on the action a.m... followed by a slight cooling off period... followed by further spikes throughout the day. I can see 15-16p easy tomorrow... and probably 19p by close of play unless some unexpected news lands to destroy sentiment.
GL A :-)
Given what's happened across the rest of the FTSE today (with the notable exception of ESL which offered a handsome profit for those in early... and def still worth a punt tomorrow) I don't think we did too bad really?
LB28: "What the f**k is a brand?"
I suggest you go ask BMW... or Liberty... or Coca Cola... or Visa... or FedEx what a brand is worth!
A known brand is everything = customer recognition & loyalty... or in simple terms = ££££££££/$$$$$$$.
GGP is unique at the moment IMHO: a safe haven from The Market and mad media Coronavirus frenzy... offering an unfolding JV gold mining story - located within the planet's current gold hot spot.
...and with plenty of potential upside from current SP levels despite carrying the dreaded AIM explorer label.
It's why we are still BLUE when many other stocks over the past few days continue to be RED.
The virus is being manipulated by the markets for commercial gain... just as the Iran Oil "NOT" crisis was used to manipulate oil stocks and before that Brexit was used to manipulate UK stocks... and before that... etc...etc... The Market love nothing better than a good dramatic headline to balance the books in their favour.
Been there and got the full set of T-shirts to prove it!
GL A :-)
LOL! Sorry... yes, forgot that OldTimer
YL ;-)
I have 21 stocks on my watchlist on only three of them are blue this morning... and guess what?
They are all connected to GOLD.
Hardly rocket science that GGP would hold up well under the Coronovirus scare. Especially bearing in mind that our drilling team are just about as isolated as it's possible to be!
YL ;-)
