Kando, considering the manipulative RNS' we have had over the last few months that wouldn't surprise me at all.

The fat lady is in her dressing room warming up her vocal chords but she hasn't begun singing yet. I think there may be a few more twists yet.

Thr RNS strongly implies that an extension will take place for the conditions of the possible offer to be fulfilled.

If that happens it gives other interested parties a chance to make a counter offer now that they know what the board are willing to bend over for.

Acotty, that still won't stop them from pushing for a higher price. Whether they get it remains to be seen.

I'm not sure IIs were aware of the 35p offer. Quite a few topped up when the price was in the mid 30s and higher. If they knew 35p was coming why add? Furthermore why not sell when the price got to the 45p level?

I think IIs will push for a higher price. After all who on earth ever accepts the opening offer in a negotiation?

Incredible to think that virtually no one, even individuals who were stating Sidara would make a low ball offer suggested a price of 35p.

I'm afraid this tells me current WG finances are in a perilously bad state.

I just can't see the IIs accepting such a low offer. Last year Sidara came back 2/3 times with improved bids so it's possible the same happens again.

People trash developing countries for corruption and bribery but the LSE absolutely reeks of it. I remember in 2023 PFC guided shareholders that the company would be cash neutral by year end yet by October 2023 shorts had piled in to over 12%. A few months later PFC rescinded their guidance and look whats happend since. The point being how did the shorters know without any additional guidance PFC was in serious trouble?The FCA are toothless and completely insipid.

Well that was a kick in the teeth. I suspected after the last RNS we were being prepared for a low ball offer but I never believed a 35p offer would be something the board would consider backing. Not sure many others did too.

I'm hoping now the IIs push for a higher price or someone else makes a slightly better offer I think we'll be lucky to get anything around the 45p mark.

Feel very sorry for LTHs with far higher averages.

@longfell, I'd be surprised if a bid doesn't materialise because it doesn't meet the approval of the board. It's clear Sidara have indicated what they are willing to pay for WG and the board have found this acceptable otherwise negotiations would have ended before they had begun.

I could pick out a dozen incorrect assertions in that post but this is the one that stuck out most.

'They rarely if ever allow extensions that cross into a trading suspension, unless the suspension itself is minor, temporary, or resolvable — none of which appears to apply here.'

The suspension IS minor (a technicality), temporary as a consequence and easily resolvable by submitting the year end accounts.

I can't see Sidara making a bid while the review is incomplete. I also think an extension will be granted. The shares will be suspended but for no where near as long as some have made it out to be. Perhaps a month give or take a few weeks. During this time and if Sidara are given certain assurances regarding the outcome of the review they will hopefully make a bid.

The suspension won't last 6 months. Not even close to that. In the Feb 14th RNS it stated that the majority of the review was complete. I think had the CFO not resigned the accounts would have been published on time but the new CFO has decided to go over everything his predecessor signed off on again as any CFO would rightly do considering the circumstances under which Balan resigned.

Furthermore, Sidara are perfectly able to make a bid within the suspension period. I've read nothing to suggest otherwise.

My understanding is with an all cash offer for WG (Sidara apparently have the cash in reserves) the influence of the bond market is minimal on this type of takeover.

I've said before if Sidara are looking for a lowball offer (sub £1) i would far rather prefer the takeover abandoned and wait 12-18 months when the SP could potentially be far higher than this figure.

Or maybe like me they're just tired of repeating the same thing over and over. Go get a mug of tea BD.

MrGonzo, if Sidara do make a bid as reported, it will be for an all cash offer. Also as reported they are keen to get things moving quickly. It's literally been about 6 weeks since the takeover RNS. These things take time especially with a major review of finances/accounts going on concurrently. A lot of people need to show more patience.

If an offer is finally made news will begin to leak through and the SP will begin to climb rapidly in anticipation of the announcement.

As has been said repeatedly sit tight and hold on to your shares.
