I understand the debate around the M&S payment and M&S digging their heals in. But does anyone know if M&S has an agreement that they have first refusal, at all costs, on the remaining 50% of Ocado retail (owned by Ocado)? By that I mean, if Ocado were to negotiate a sale of their 50%, that if M&S were not the highest bidder, they would be free to sell it to Amazon/Tesco/AN Other….

I feel like M&S are in a strong position, but this partnership accounts for almost their entire online food offering, so if for whatever reason, Ocado chose to upset the apple cart, they seem to me to have a significant amount to lose.

Happy for anyone who knows the structure of the partnership deal to put me right on this. I just don’t know the answer.

Another valuation that suggests that THG were right to wait until 24/25 to do anything with MyProtein. Releasing optimum value will all be in the timing.

I would have agreed 6 months ago, but I’m not sure now. MM is smart enough to know that with the health market in growth, but with competition also in growth, this is the right time to float or sell MyProtein. I personally think that it will depend on the value attributed to it. If the price is right, I now think that the board, Investors and MM would consider a sale.

If you read City Spy’s posts in order, in addition to a potential listing in the US, it could also mean that an unsolicited bid has been tabled for MyProtein by someone based in New York….. hmmm….

Having looked at the CS image again, I think whoever said it could be linked to free Willy may have something. I tend to think if it means anything at all, it’s about setting MyProtein free. Sold outright or floated or neither, who knows…

I remember Jamie G (holds circa 1m shares I think) saying something about CS having been right about something previously, so there may be some substance to it.

I know the City Spy reference to “2 trades” is probably absolute tosh, but there’s not a huge amount of volume today, but the price is still rising….so I wonder if “2” reads across to “200” in this list. The share price is certainly acting this way:

Does this mean there are 6% below 0.5% + 1.92% above the 0.5%? So 7.92% to be closed by shorts?

People were commenting that the finance director buy must mean that nothing material, not known to the market currently, was going to happen in the near future….. If all this stacks up, as the information is all in the public domain, it looks like it just means that the Directors have been very shrewd, locking in shares now, before changes in the summer.

There is a totally ridiculous column in City Whispers today with a bit about whether Moulding will rant about the shorts increasing their positions in THG. It reminded me that on top of your funds, the shorts have 1.92% to close (declared above 0.5%), plus others below that declarable threshold.

I believe that the director buys, TGL appearing in a podcast with his niece (that he could have done ages ago), Matt being the subject of a future episode and the lack of commentary on what’s happening in terms of listing status, is all carefully choreographed, to get the news flowing ahead of change. After all, Matt did say ….. let’s see what 2024 brings.
