Richy, if you don't like shorters then just say so but don't bring spread betting as a whole into your ramblings as you have no idea what you are talking about. Read some books on spread betting before you continue talking nonsense. If you have any questions then I will happily answer them.

RichinM, you are still not answering the question. How do you think spread betting works? Talk me through the process? You don't have a clue! The benefit of spread betting is that you don't pay any tax when you make a gain. I have a large bet on PPC heading north from 6p.

RichinM, I don't know how many times I have to tell you that spread betting companies do not pay out on bets. This isn't betting on horses, etc. The spread betting companies do not pay out on a bet. They make their money from placing the bet and closing a bet. I suggest again that you read a book on spread betting as you are making a fool of yourself.

Rich, you should read some books on spread betting as you have it totally wrong. The spread betting companies don't pay out on winnings. They make their money by the different spread the charge their clients. So say I wanted to put a bet on PPC rising and the ask was 8.15p the spread bet company would charge me 8.2p. They would then buy x number of shares in PPC at 8.15p but charge me 8.2p. And when I sold my PPC bet they would sell their shares at say 11p but only give me 10.95p. The spread bet company makes their money on the margin and cover themselves by buying (long) or selling (short) the shares themselves.

Hi Rich, I spread bet all the time. I have an ISA and SIPP and then I spread bet the rest to avoid paying tax. I use HL and IG. Once you place your bet the spread bet company then buys or sells the shares in the particular company and charges the client (me) a little bit more on the spread. I treat it exactly the same as investing.

The trading range on this share is 400p down to 320p which I followed with a short a couple of weeks ago. Then went long at 320p and should see this head back up towards 400p.

I am working on 360p or 370p by Friday.
