The geopolitical tensions are significant. The POG over the last 10 years or so has been unreal. There could well be a recession, but it could be yet another short-lived and shallow one. Apart from gold, GSK appears to be a good option for defensive investing. You are far more knowledgeable than I on these things. How about converting savings, if that's possible, to Swiss Francs as a temporary safe haven measure - could it be a feasible option for the average modest investor?

I've been topping up lately too, managed to get some at 1443 yesterday - I'm concerned mostly about the wider tensions in the world mostly, but hopefully things will calm down.

The current price is toward the lower end of a 52-week range, so must be a good buy IMO.

Without having read his posts (and believe me, I’m definitely never planning to), it’s crystal clear this nutjob 'w/t' just can’t handle the idea that, once in a while, he’s not at the top of the daily posts. Common sense isn't a form of science, so it can't be fully relied on to be accurate. Similarly, intuition or gut feelings aren't scientific either. However, if you study the human gut in a scientific way, that is rooted in science, which brings us back to the idea that we should start with scientific evidence.

And, I do believe GSK are worth it, so today I add to my holding.

I'm new to the group, just got in and picked a few shares. Franchise Brands (FRAN) seems like a solid investment opportunity - fingers crossed I'm on the mark! I see there have been some high-profile sells, I'm not too bothered. While their debt isn’t fully covered by operating cash flow, the company’s strong growth potential and future cash flow projections should help offset that risk. Hoping this turns into another profitable long-term hold!
