We can 'Not' trust the U.S under Trump. The only immediate allies are European, Canadian and Australia.

Trump is cutting off his nose to spite his face. U.S. citizens will suffer and Trump will soon lose support even amongst his own voters. While the tariffs may have some effect on ITV's international content distribution and advertising revenue, the direct impact will be very limited compared to other sectors, particularly those heavily reliant on US imports or exports. The main risk would be in the longer term, where sustained tensions could potentially disrupt international partnerships or advertising flows. By then the polished turd, that is tariffs, will have lost its sheen.

The UK can still play a role in the European defense strategy despite no longer being an EU member. However, the negative impact of Brexit is now more evident than ever. In my view, both Trump and Putin seem to favour a breakdown in European unity, as it would allow them to exploit the situation for their own gain.

The UK could engage in this effort by establishing a Security and Defence Partnership (SDP) with the EU, which is currently under negotiation. If the agreement is finalised, the UK would have the chance to join defense projects and contribute to EU defense initiatives, including those supported by the SAFE fund. This is most likely to materialise, one would expect.

QinetiQ could be eligible if it operates an EU-based subsidiary, which it does, and meets the EU’s security requirements. Additionally, its involvement would depend on forging successful partnerships with EU members for collaborative defense projects.

Plausibley, The partnership strengthens QinetiQ's position, especially in supporting military forces with UAV capabilities, and the collaboration with Hensoldt can likely open new business opportunities in both the military and civil drone markets. Therefore, this seems like a promising growth area for QinetiQ in the evolving defense technology landscape.

I suspect the contract delays are :only delays'. Defence is definitely going to be in sharp focus going forward - what ever Trump and Putin cook up to make themselves look good whilst indulging in the spoils of war.

In a nutshell, QinetiQ is facing some immediate financial and operational struggles, they believe their long-term prospects remain strong, especially as defense spending grows globally. They are taking steps, like restructuring their US operations and continuing to buy back shares, to ensure that they are positioned well for the future.
