RE: Reaction to tariffs7 Apr 2025 20:09
As I've mentioned before, any deal with Trump will come at a high cost, one way or another. In my view, encouraging subservience to the U.S. is a bad decision. If Starmer falls for this, it will be hard to undo. Trump is someone who has appeased an aggressor and ignored history, making him a dangerously foolish figure.
For those of us taking risks, buying stocks at rock-bottom prices, it is futile if the world remains in chaos; it's not foresight, it's simply clutching at straws. While it might pay off, in the end, and may make us feel smug, it's still gambling. Trump's use of humiliation and bullying is reckless and harmful. He’s incompetent and out of his depth.
Could a trade war lead to military conflict? We certainly hope not, but with an egotistical, incompetent would-be dictator in charge of the U.S., it’s a real possibility.
All of this underscores the utter failure of U.S. institutions.
