RE: Yesterday’s Nasdaq Shorting23 Sep 2020 13:44
I’m afraid it’s probably a case of more questions than answers. We know 2 things for sure tho :
1) there is an algorithm-bot working the Nasdaq in order to bring the price down/suppress/manipulate it
2) Short Selling on the Nasdaq is making up between 15% and 30% of the total Nasdaq volume for 9 of the last 10 trading days
These 2 things are not necessarily linked, but it’s a stretch to think they are not. To my mind the Algo-bot is being used to bring down the share price, because as far as I known you cannot use an alto-bot for short selling. This means that someone is either shorting this on the Nasdaq and is using an algorithm-bot to help manipulate the price down (I.e. one in the same person) OR, someone is shorting this because they know someone else is running an alto-bot and they are taking advantage of that by shorting the stock. The other option (and probably the one subscribe to), is that the Algorithm-bot is being used to drive down the price on the Nasdaq (whoever is using this is also shorting it, because Why wouldn’t you make money from a falling price if you are controlling it) while at the same time attempting to fill a large buy order either for them self, or for a client either in the US, in the UK, or both.
At some point, these short positions HAVE to be covered/closed tho, because if they are not, whoever is borrowing the stock will be liable to pay the owner of those shares the value of the Demerger shares missed out on. So for example, if someone borrows 1m shares to short sell and doesn’t buy them back and return them to the original owner prior to the Record Date, they would have to pay the owner of those shares 1m x the price of each AccuStem Share (because the owner wouldn’t qualify for free shares at the cut off date).
Obviously I have idea on timelines etc for this, but once short positions start closing into a such a small Free Float, this will go up so quick you won’t believe it.
This is being played BIG TIME, so hold on to those shares guys.
