Could it not be a simple payment to buy a licence to fit SEE kit per annum and a payment per FFS. If only one company buys a licence they take an advantage in the bidding process to customers. If a third supplier needs SEE kit to win contracts they also buy a licence. If new features develop the licence fee goes up at the next review.

Could this be the new business model, for all parts of the business, to be explained at the Capital Market Day? It may also explain the delay by automotive OEMs. It would be different to the presentation of annual results.

Unless something mega happens either before or on Capital Market day what can be discussed which was not covered in the results presentation ?

I doubt you would want to licence data to a competitor but a different area of technology would be good. It was said you could have a licence with Apple, Facebook or Google. Would they do that or would one just say we will buy SM ? Would it help new tech to develop if they all had a licence ?

Smokey2 - Blips do happen. Last week was the longest run of negative week vs week figures since I have monitored the numbers. My guess is its something to do with trials either direct via SM or via an insurance company. When the trial is over data stops and the company gets approval to invest and the numbers rise rapidly, as the units are already fitted in the vehicle. I am further guessing its a 3 month trial looking at the figures which ended 17th September.

I would like to see the numbers jumping by 650 installations each week but can i share a caution. I have used the Wednesday 24hr figure here as it avoids the weekend effect. I am also using the 350km/day figure per unit.

Wednesday 11/9
6,077,070km travelled / 350 = 17363 units
Wednesday 18/9
5,920,124 travelled / 350 = 16915 units
Wednesday 25/9
6,119635 travelled / 350 = 17485 units

If we ignore last week when the numbers dropped nearly every day and use the figure from 11/9 we may have installed 17485- 17363 units = 122 in two weeks.

The numbers have bounced back this week and I hope this will continue but i very much doubt the installation rate is has yet reached 650/ week. If you think I am wrong please say.

My main question is why did the km figure drop last week.

Smokey2 - 650 is a massive number in a week. Can you share your calculation ?

Further information on the Fleet km per 12 hour period for information. I am sure someone would be able to explain why the numbers periodically go down but its not obvious to me. ( for clarification these numbers are the difference, in km, in the same 12 hour period in the week previous)

Re question 1 - The fleet numbers (km travelled) have dropped over the last five 12 hour time periods when compared to last weeks figures. Is this an installation which is trialled and is then removed under an insurance company deal. Should it be how many units are signed up with a contract each month ?

If it helps to see the progress with Fleet. I have collected data for the km travelled each day using the totals issued at 2am & 2pm each day since week commencing 29th April. The attached graph shows this data per week and the difference between am & pm figures. Clearly different parts of the world can contribute more hours to either group as the working day changes by time zone.

Over 37 million km in a week for the first time.

We were told that a unit typically completed 350km/day.
If we take the average km/day this month less the average km/day last month and divide by 350 does that not give the number of units added in the last month ? If it does we still need a step change in installation rates.

ET - Did you not ask the same question last week ? Perhaps we should not say incase a competitor is doing some basic research !
