Imagine in this day and age buying a property based on it being a Catholic V Protestant area. Talk about being backward! Some good sized towns along the east coast that will give you a great quality of life in my opinion are Greystones in County Wicklow which is head and shoulders above anything else, Gorey and Wexford town (I would say that of course!) Back to business, there has been a sizeable sell off Chinese equities today and yesterday that is not very widely reported as yet. Guess who has been buying into asset bubbles in recent years? The level of debt in China is now at unprecedented levels as they have been busy investing at home but more importantly overseas especially in US Tech and Global Property (in particular Australia, NY & London). This may be the start of something very big inmho.
The positives are well known but as a bank share it has flaws that concern me 1. Considerable Exposure to Brexit, the UK and Sterling fluctuation - given the political apathy and performance to date it is easy to envisage a scenario where UK exits without a deal and sterling moves to parity or even sub parity with Euro. 2. BoI has been the most resistant of all the Irish based banks to negotiate their bad debts - this will continue to play out for some time and is unnecessary downward pressure 3. There has been a huge exercise to appraise all of Fkirs IT providers, contracts and issues - the significant outcome is that it will require significant and material capital investment. 4. Current Macro and i/r environment make it very difficult to grow it's NIM. So for me, it's mainly Brexit and Sterling and I think the timeline of same will be reflected in Fkir share price over the next 6 months. We know International Markets are at all time highs, we also know trees don't grow to the sky!
This FKIR is starting to look attractive at this range. AIB will be a good buy - when it hits Euro 2.90
....this turd is starting to shine.
