What offer for what?

If we are talking an offer for Hav only, this would be between NCM (say) and GGP. It could be either accepted or rejected before anyone outside of the two board rooms gets to know about it. Shareholders will only know after an RNS when all is settled. No bidding war.

If for GGP, then a few things will need to happen first. Any potential by out company will need to build up a critical shareholding first before showing their hand. There are rules (3% to start with) and this will force a change in share price and lots of games before an official offer is made. This is where you may get a bidding war, but will take time to develop.

The two scenarios are completely different, either needs a proactive BOD to manage things.

Anyone can make an offer, low or not. That doesn't mean you have to consider it or agree to it. There is always the option of 'thanks for your interest, but the answer is no'.

I doubt it, Sungam. As with any agreement, if both parties agree they can change things. If there is such a provision and a really good offer was contemplated, that provision would easily be set aside. Therefore it makes little sense in including it in the first place.

I have to say that all there binary and fixed views stating that we will never be a miner / will be a miner etc. are, in my view, all a bit short sighted.

I am very happy with GH and his team, I have every confidence that as and when a decision needs to be made It will be done with all available information and not based on an not mining dogma.

It may well make sense, and increasingly looks to be the case, where GGP end up both as a prospector as well as a junior partner in a mining venture. How useful would this be with mining income covering the cost of prospecting and maybe, even, providing a dividend?

Looking through history, most gold rushes of the past made more money for those that provided the infrastructure. Hardware shops, transportation (rail lines etc), hotels, inn keepers (and, of course brothels).

A modern gold rush in The Paterson (especially when Hav gets properly recognised) will mean prospecting companies drilling hoes all over the place!
