RE: Senior Manager – Business Development and M&A31 Jul 2020 08:39
Fodder for all the 'they want to buy us out now' theories.
Not going to happen, unless their hand forced by an outside bid.
This is a normal position for a company this size. With the current commercial environment (covid etc.) along with the increasing price of gold, there will be many opportunities for them to explore. ROI will be the key driver as well as increasing their ore reserves. In this respect, HAV is sorted - minimum capital needed to progress through all the farm in stages to get them 70%. Their available capital for M&A activity will be better used elsewhere.
Yes, in 3 years or so when HAV is producing, they can easily sort out a royalty type buy out for HAV, made much more cost effective when they have positive cashflow from HAV.
They may WANT to buy HAV, but they don't NEED to buy HAV at the moment. Any decisions they make on capital projects will have to justify to their shareholders, trying to value HAV at this stage, and come up with a number our board can recommend is going to be at a high cost. Very difficult to justify!
There will be lots of other fish for them to catch in their traps long before they NEED to deal with HAV.
