To be honest, any broker valuation for us, without a published MRE is them sticking a wet finger up in the air to see where the wind is blowing. It will, in the absence of hard data, come with a high (50%) risk factor.

We as investors, can allow ourselves to consider a more de-risked position, but the brokers will likely wait until sometime after NCM show a bit more of the picture.

Of course, is NCM says an MRE will be reported in a month's time, there will be a further delay.

No, what is highly likely is that the brokers have made their initial calculations and are simply waiting to see what NCM come up with first. They don't want egg on their faces buy over or under estimating the size of the prize and having to issue a revision to their projections.

They don't need to be asked to hold off, it is simply a sensible timing for them to judge themselves.

It isn't, or shouldn't be an either / or debate. The focus has to be to disrupt the virus as much as possible so its transmission falls below it's sustainable level.

This will involve using ALL effective tools we have. So the masks, hand washing, distancing, working from home etc. are a good and effective start. It works.

Follow that up with information sharing between hospitals on what they have found works and what doesn't. Helping to find the most effective treatments, this is ongoing and has helped reduce time in ICU and deaths.

Then there is the longer term options, other therapeutic remedies (of which SNG is one) as well as potential vaccines. Even if the initial vaccines are only 50% effective, then that helps. We will need to use all methods/treatments/preventative measures to deny the virus it's chances to spread.

And on more tool, which seems to be sadly lacking in some (notably one large one) countries is EDUCATION.

The mind boggles at the way the orange man is dealing with this in the US.

Why does this matter to us - the more tension between these two, the more attractive Gold becomes. A little more fuel was added to the Gold price!

That is a false co-relation. POG is not related to Covid or availability of Covid vaccine. There is a co-relation between POG and the unprecedented monetary reactions of governments around the world. The massive amounts of borrowing needed to prop up their economies has been done. That is here to stay and is causing gold to regain it's position as a safe haven asset. Any changed in Covid from now on will have no effect on Gold, any easing / hardening of the monetary response will.

And who knows whats next?

Seriously folks, many people have lost their lives over gold/diamonds in these lesser well governed territories. They may well appear safe at the moment, but politics can change in an instant. Armed political coups can a do happen. The tend to happen very quickly with little time to react.

Personally I look to invest for the long term and can do without the worry and possible panic from some of these territories. It's all down to your risks appetite, I'm happy with business risk, but political risk is a complete no for me.

Looking at page 14, the graphic showing Lihir/Cadia on the left 'in a class of their own'. Now focus on the far right, to spot Telfer looking a bit sad!

Can you imagine the net benefit to NCM's balance sheet (and shareholder value) that will come when Havieron/Telfer will move that to alongside Cadia.

That is the value we bring to the table and what is driving the massive effort to start the decline.

What a lovely sweet spot for us to be in!
