O - as M and S said, that 7 figure total was cumulative disposals ... if you think 1000 ASC shares is £50k, doesn't take many buys/sells to hit a million! Or lots of smaller buys/sells like FEVR @ £20, CCL @ 15 etc.

C - thanks for that clarification. I do SA tax return anyway so add them in to the relevant section, last tax year will be busy but pinching R's on line calculator thingy and S's list to post a file, as too many for the on line HMRC calculator which allows up to 20 disposals!

T - I was referring to yesterdays Boris news about the covid passport as per interview or similar on BBC news at tea time. And pubs were upset about it!

C - sorry to hear the bad news, your welcome updates are reassuring, get well soon C jnr.

M - not sure about when to declare CGT, but I recall if you already do a self assessment tax return it should go on even if under the £12300 allowance, just as divi's under £2000, and interest under £1000. ( Think those are the right way around! ).
If you don't already do a SA, then if under taxable limit no need to report.
C may well correct me.
M - you seem to be doing OK for the 1st year trading, well done! With my ( large ) losses last year halved my profit, and p/f back to where started after taking out £10k profit for ISA, basically as I didn't cash in the 36p GGP and 220 SNG a while ago .. p/f fell as they did. Quick calc - yep, very nearly 7 figures in trading, and I have done little this year and several months Q2/Q3 last year!

S - Fancy a trip up north and build me a porch - single storey and just double front door width! ;-)

T - Was said in Boris's announcement /questions, unlikely to have covid passports in UK until EVRERYONE has had vaccine to avoid discrimination. Particularly the younger people who won'g get a jab for many months but have jab to give up freedom to protect the old and vulnerable. Is it jour jab this Sunday?
Pubs worried they will have to police entry and pay for rapid testing? So not fans.

Any F1 back on, bit of a shake up in the expected performance order, may be more fun this year!
Rugby league back on, 8 matches on Sky this weekend, 2 a day..... and OH has one on the League app ( as they are only championship side! ). my lot are on 6pm tonight at Leeds.

Looking at the markets, all my shares are down so is the p/f ( thanks GGP ! ) and Plus. So not done anything with them.

T - Yes, PS5 finally came yesterday after lunch, so been busy setting it up and moving some PS4 games over to it for upgrade! Looks nice, feels smooth in use, so happy.

S - what time are you due at the dentist - 2:30 ?? work it out!

Nice to see some of the brigade trading and making a profit, keep it up!

S - Missed the plus surge at 9am, could have sold half/1 tranche fir slight profit. I'll keep an eye on them today - I had expected to fall on open after the rise on Friday.

As many Brigadeers are in travel shares, what's the thoughts on the EU proposal for a Digital Green covid passport, and the UK's covid jab certificate?
UK peeps still moaning about the ethics of only allowing vaccinated people access to things - cinemas, busses & trains, planes, sport stadiums ( stadia ? ), pubs, restaurants etc.
What's the difference to say blind people not being allowed to have a driving licence - both are on medical / safety grounds.
It will probably happen.
Although as EU can't gt their act together on vaccinations I'd guess Europe would be a no go for a while yet? EMA cleared the ox-AZ vaccine yesterday and today 3 or 4 EU countries re-started using it so some sense showing through.

Good to see UK will ensure those having first jab will get 2nd jab, and all adults jabbed by end July, despite vaccine shortages via India.

Thanks T, yeah was worried they would vanish, of course couldn't sell while suspended, but value was fairly small ( lost more on the CINE error last year! ).

S - Yep! Plus still adding to the share price ( groan ). 22% was nice, on 1/2 million shares at .49 cost, not massive but a few hundred quid - paid for the PS5 anyway!!! :-o

G - Thanks. New things - PS5 and telescope or shares? ;-) Got burnt a few times on CCL, MCRO, CINE and a bit on JDW, MARS, MAB so left them alone ... they didn't recover as I expected and fell a lot lower than my buy in price, so sold at a loss to get free cash back. WATCH stop losses - I had cine at 54p, SP on the day was 45p, rumour of bad news so I set a stop loss of 39p. A loss but bearable. On open, Cine SP fell to around 14p, my stop loss triggered at 16p .... apparently they go off at or BELOPW the stop loss price and the fall on open / pre market was so sharp and fast it took the broker / robot minutes to do my trade ... so I lost about 70% of my CINE value on 10000 shares. Gulp.Lesson learned, first and only time I used a stop loss and I thought I was being clever / careful!!
So kept in GGP, SNG, dabbled in Skin/DVRG and Modern water - who merged, Syme, ASC a little, and a little FEVR. Not been in OCDO for ages, nor MCRO or other other Brigade faves.

I actually made a trade today, 22% profit on SYME - they had been suspended for 6 weeks while FCA checked them over ( and delays in filing accounts! ) bt all seems ell, and on news of signing more partners they seem to be taking off again. Got .592 for them, peak was 0.6.

Yes, Plus back into the 1400's is looking good, more to come I think so I'll be keeping watch. PS5 not arrived yet, "processing" due to huge orders will be despatched between 17-24 March !! So next week now..... ohh well. Spent yesterday building a telescope I orderded last month, 4.5" reflector on EQ mount. Quite nice! OH likes watching the ISS and Elon's spacelink fly across the sky! And other things too!

S - well done on sell/buy back your SNG shares into ISA - Swazers charts for SNG look like over 224 by July - the Active -2 and phase 3 trials will give results in about 6 weeks, the home trials maybe before. Then all being well.....

FEVR dropped nicely .. recovering now. They sold out of mixers in lockdown due to home drinking, although closed bars hurt them. Divi due early april I think, 10p, so price movements leading into that. Dropped to 2050 ish this morning , would have been a good time to buy with the upwards movement since.

OCDO low, rising again....

Thanks S, R, C. All helps. I have also been reading CGT on the HMRC website - pretty good, but so many options on shares - same day trades, 30 day trades, bed and breakfasting, allocating sold shares to tranches when bought, etc.

C - you are right, I was thinking if I was going to sell say Plus at a loss it would offset this years profits ( or carry over to next ) but more a timing thing than if selling .... still holding as Plus is bobbing up again!

I was mainly trading in the fund and share account, only opened a stocks ISA when the Brigade mentioned it some months ago. So probably 60% is fund, 40% is in the ISA. Intending to eventually do most in the ISA!!

OH hasn't got an ISA this tax year so I must get around to opening her a HL account and an isa in there before April.

S - indeed.
Was looking at the actual trade profits instead of overall p/f value .... in profit after a year, but less than what shows if I included the unsold profitable shares if you see what I mean ( e.g. GGP ). So looking when best to take a hit and sell at a loss - does it help the CGT this year or leave it and hope for a rise later on and sell in profit.. And as GGP - too many held as it's over 50& of my p/f !!! - has dropped 1/3 lately p/f based profit is down.

Good profits also hit when I HAVE sold at a loss when I had been stuck at silly high prices on CCL, CINE, MCRO, JDW etc. last year, all of which now higher sp!! And when sold to release the cash to trade spikes and shakes, and I didn't make back the loss!

Clear as mud!!

O, C - thanks for the divi / tax advice.

C - I understand the divi & allowance, just the timing confused me. The £2k divi allowance is useful especially when plus do such a big divi!!!
Starting to look at my tax position for 20/21 and if I need to take a loss on selling / share price now or wait to next tax year to help the CGT charge !!!!

O - 10 EU countries have paused the use of AZ vaccine. Spain saying at least 2 weeks. Final report from EMA out on Thursday.

C - Plus have large cash surplus, and are buying back own shares like mad.
Also they say about 73% of customers lose so they make, BUT a run end of last year cost them.
Criticised for NOT hedging / covering bets / losses, as their view was that would cost more than benefit... so got caught out there on that run in Q4 2020.
Lots of new customers 2020 but market view is not all will stay, but bullish trading report seems tosay majority staying and more coming on board!
Plus ( lol) they have a couple of new products coming up in 2021.

S - interesting news on AZ vaccine on BBC news... EU's EMA saying no link to AZ and blood clots. Data says 37 in Europe suffered blood clots sometime after the AZ jab, out of 5 million patients. Dr. says usual number of clots from 5 million people would be 100 !! So looks like AZ vaccine cuts risk of blood clots by 60% !!!!

20 in UK from over 17 million jabs.

EU just totally messing up their covid response, vaccination programme ... no doubt will blame UK again ( not their slow response to buy vaccines, their AZ factory that had problems, slow roll out, refusals to take vaccine, trying to control centrally across 27 countries from the Commission etc. ) - At least they won't be trying to stop AZ vaccine leaving EU or "forcing" UK to give ours up!
