Bought back today at 68.3 and 68.7 after selling at 71 odd the other day and 72.1 this am. Very good trading on this share atm

Sold some at 71 and a bit on the Boe bounce. Bound to be back below 69 by close. Same old same old. Won't let this go until the update imo

I agree. The institution that sold took a hefty loss and trashed the SP. The shorts loved it and jumped on the bandwagon as usual. It will be interesting to see whether they continue to close, whether news is imminent, whether Sidara come back with a cheeky bid now that the SP is less than 33% of the original price they pitched their bid at.

Several sources have indicated that they believe the fall was " overdone", contracts have continued to roll in with big global players, oil and therefore oil services is back big with Trump's "drill baby drill".

Should be a fascinating week. My hunch is news very soon, shorts continuing to close ( trying to do so in an orderly fashion) and a cheeky bid from somewhere in the not too distant future. Aimo dyor.

If, as the Mail says, it is a short covering rally it still has an awfully long way to go - just 2 to 3 million max ( rough estimate) covered on Fri ?? out of a total 25 to 30 million shorts out there.

I suspect it may be a combination of both i.e. a leak/ whiff of good news prompting shorts to rush to cover.

Whichever it is, the SP has been trashed. I suspect the majority of shorts will need to cover/ exit soon to be safe in case a takeover offer also materialises which will be a nightmare for them.

According to short tracker shorts at 3.47% as of Thursday night. That is just under 25 million shares by my calcs. Say a few more shorts about ( under 0.5% no longer need to declare) so anywhere between 25 to 20 million shares need to be bought back.

This will be tricky if there is ( good) news next week. Friday saw strong upward momentum which kicked in at lunchtime and didn't abate for the rest of the day.

Could be an RNS in the pipeline, a whisper of takeover interest ( restriction on rebidding ends next week 5thFeb??)Perhaps even remaining shorts started to close on Friday, word got out hence the whoosh. However, 6.4m total volume on Friday means that not that many were bought back on Friday - a couple of million maybe ??

They did start to reduce earlier on January then a blip as they increased only to reverse again ?? Guess they are hoping to reduce on the quiet before the whoosh ?

Was on the verge of selling at 71.3 earlier. Glad I didn't. Spread become V tight at end. News next week?

Ellite - yes I have bought back in , some yesterday and a few more today. Not happy being on the sidelines now. I felt the "fall over the last few days wasn't convincing and appeared to be facilitating some larger trades. I have some powder dry for any further buying opportunities ( should they arise) but significant developments reported today. They apparently closed yesterday (21.02) fascinating. Gl to you

Massive reduction by Qube virtually in one go.( 2% is approx 12m shares - when did they go through??) will be a clamour to close now before news hits imo

Yes Crowman I did get back in later that week in fact three times, at 62.6, 61.7 and 61.2. I sold earlier today in two batches at 70.3 and 70.15. ( as you appear to be obsessed with other posters trading??) Guess what, that what shares are for to buy low sell higher and make a turn.Now whoever came up with that idea? lol
