Yes, it was one non exec director and the other is Rick Haythornthwaite, currently a non executive director, soon to be Ocado chairman when Stuart Rose leaves. Rick was chairman of Mastercard from 2006-20. They both should be decent judges of the Ocado share price. They both bought £100ks worth in Feb 2021 at £26/ a share.

Throwing more staff into online delivery picking in stores is a short term fix. Over time the increased labour cost, increased inaccuracies in orders etc will add up.

Anyone who uses Ocado for a delivery then tries Asda for example will see a huge difference in substitutions, items not available. Vastly more range at Ocado and more timely delivery amongst many other advantages Ocado offers.

We expect positive revenue growth in the second quarter versus the corresponding period last year as we continue to ramp the Bristol CFC and restrictions on social distancing continue in the UK.

Ocado retail trading statement in the morning will be very interesting. Looking for a continuation of the great growth thus far. Any stumbles or mention of reduced demand could punish the share price. Personally I see a continuation of the EBITDA growth as in previous trading statements.

Sobeys have acquired a controlling 51% stake in the grocery Longos in Canada for $357mill Canadian. This will provide a bigger customer base and reach for Voila, the Sobeys/Ocado Solutions partnership in Canada.

I expect other Ocado Solutions partners across the globe will seek acquisitions driven by their digital strength. Also they themselves may receive takeover offers as competitors seek to buy into the best online grocery solution.

Yes, the 2 robotics acquisitions are great fits to the Ocado Solutions ecosystem. All their current overseas partners are looking for extra capacity from Ocado which has given Ocado Solutions a lot to deal with. Pandemic has brought forward the online grocery markets evolution by many years. Ocado retail sales have gone through the roof and they have dealt with the upsurge as best they can given available warehousing.

Tim Steiner outlined on the recent annual results day that Ocado Solutions are currently in touch with many overseas grocery companies. As the travel bans are lifted he sees progress regarding new overseas partners.

Morrison's annual results out today. Ocado related info is below:

"Online sales tripled during the year, with capacity up fivefold." (Great majority of these sales are through the Ocado tie up. Minority are via their partnership with Amazon)

"Together with our partner Ocado, Morrisons.com sales grew through the Dordon CFC, and especially through a substantial increase in the number of store-pick home delivery stores, up from 33 to 197 by year end. In addition, we now offer click & collect from almost 450 stores. Both store pick for home delivery and click & collect use Ocado's in-store fulfilment solution. From February, our Morrisons.com capacity increased further as we re-entered Ocado's Erith CFC, where our capacity will build to 30% of delivery slots. "

Yesterday Empire Company (the parent company of Sobeys in Canada) released their 3rd quarter results. Within that they commented on the progress of Voila, Sobeys Ocado powered online delivery service. Everything going extremely well as you can see below:

"June 22, 2020, the Company introduced the future of online grocery home delivery to the GTA through the Company's newest e-commerce platform, Voilà by Sobeys. Voilà is powered by Ocado Group plc's ("Ocado") industry-leading technology and fills orders through its automated Customer Fulfilment Centre ("CFC") in Vaughan, Ontario. Robots assemble orders efficiently and safely, resulting in minimal product handling, while Voilà teammates deliver orders directly to the customer's home.

The Vaughan CFC has recently extended its service area to include Barrie, Kitchener, Waterloo and Guelph, already servicing the GTA and Hamilton area. The business is operating to expectations, with strong on-time delivery, fulfilment, and customer satisfaction and retention results. Order volumes have consistently increased week-over-week since the launch.

Crombie REIT has completed the construction of the building for Voilà's second CFC in Montreal and turned it over to Ocado to build the internal grid. The CFC is expected to be ready to deliver to customers in early 2022. This second CFC will support the launch of Voilà par IGA which will serve major cities in Quebec and Ottawa, Ontario.

The Company is accelerating its plans for the remaining two Voilà e-commerce CFCs – for a total of four CFCs across Canada. The third CFC will be located in Calgary and will service the majority of Alberta. It is expected to deliver to customers in the first half of calendar 2023. With only four CFCs, the Company will be able to serve approximately 75% of Canadian households representing approximately 90% of Canadians' e-commerce spend.

On September 15, 2020, the Company launched Voilà Curbside Pickup service, now serving customers in select stores in Nova Scotia and Alberta. The Company plans to expand to hundreds of stores across the country over the next few years.
