Trouble is, green loons aren't about sense, they're all about climate catastrophe. And if you think about it, we are inevitably heading towards catastrophic global warming. In around 4.5billion years our sun will turn into a red giant, as it comes to the last few hundred million years of its life. It will expand so much it will incorporate the earth. And thngs will be getting pretty hot around here. But alas, blocking O&G developments in the here and now won't make a blind bit of difference.

Brid Smith's bill is at the start of stage 3 out of 11 stages it has to pass. If it hasn't completed by the time the current Dail finishes in 2021 it falls. And as the legislative programme is in the hands of the government they can choose when it gets the slot for each stage. But anyway, when the site survey permit issues, the govt will be on the hook for massive comp if they subsequently block it. And they are issuing other permits.

Not to mention that Brid's bill is the height of deluded folly.

I'm hoping that the incoming CEO painted as bleak a picture as possible in the trading statement at the end of Feb, to blame issues on the outgoing management, and be able to surprise on the upside to make him look good. Given the cash generation here, the market seems to have priced in armageddon.

Actually I think it will be good news if BP offload their Egyptian assets to someone else. I think at least in part the sp fall has been caused by the potential risk of gargantuan dilution for SDX to acquire them. Add the TSX delist, and pushing back SD yet again, and its been a bit of a perfect storm. Although I could never fathom why the successful Moroccan drilling campaign had zero positive impact on market cap. Could be a bit of a haul back up to the 50s through this year.

The real spread has been 2.05-2.20 over the last few days. I've been buying and they've shown as sells. Don't really get why MMs do that, but not complaining. Only thing holding the permt back now is because the Minister is off on his Easter hols and not doing any hard work like signing things off. Lol, only kidding, I'm sure he is ploughing diligently through a vast pile of complicated submissions whoch need his careful consideration before his decision is handed down.

Robsroom was right. Although that did take a long time to P&A. They probably did want to look at the drill data before deciding on next steps, Equinor not Jog, and chose to plug it. They will still be working on revised Verbier volumes in light of the drill, probaboy around a mnth til we see those, and highly unlikely before the Buchan auction. It would be nice to get an RNS tomorrow though.

Indeed. I was surprised that the price wasn't going anywhere during the drill, but wasn't expecting the drill announcement so early. As far as info can be gleaned from the market, there has been some big buying. And I think if Schroders had decided to sit tight a bit longer the price wouldn't have plunged so steeply. But across the market IIs seem keen on selling huge positions on any bad news for whatever they can get.
