Delays are frustrating. But it's not the same as a duster, and we're heading towads duster valuation.

To be honest Bronx the trouble was caused when DCCAE posted this on their website:

"Update 18 April, 2019

Having regard to, inter alia, the requirements of the EIA Directives and the observations received further to consultations on the screening process, the Department considers that further information is required from the applicant so that an EIA screening assessment can be carried out.

Article 4(6) of EU Directive 2014/52/EU requires that a competent authority make a screening determination "as soon as possible and within a period of time not exceeding 90 days from the date on which the developer has submitted all the information required pursuant to paragraph 4".

The Department has requested that the applicant provide further information to enable a screening determination be made.

The additional information received will be published on the Department website and further submissions invited to be made on the additional material. Any submissions will be taken into account in any final EIA Screening Determination made in respect of this application."

I don't think there is any correlation between this and BB punters talking about counting shares and short squeezes.

Apparantly over 1% of the company sold today, and the price is creeping up. Someone must be buying in the background.

And where is miningqueen?

The most disastrous thing looks to be the suspension of the dividend. Other than that, it looks solid, with a clear plan going forward. They've probably over reached a bit on acquisitions, and now need a period of consolidation. Which means slower growth, but a stable model.

And the reality is, we either condemn the peoples of Africa, Asia, India, Russia and South America to perpetual poverty of a sort which people in the West would find completely unacceptable, or we realise that they will use fossil fuels until they have lifted their living standards sufficiently to start to adopt lower carbon lifestyles are we in the West have started to do. And we all adapt to whatever the consequences of the extra CO2 in the atmosphere turn out to be. Although I for one welcome the greening of the planet that has occured over my lifetime. One of the few positives I've seen, although the huge decrease in global absolute poverty has been good.

The management started buying just under 60p. So they must have thought that was the floor. A further 50% decline from there must have shocked them.

Carpetright recovering over 50% today on the back of a decent trading update. All the doubting PIs selling yesterday didn't call that right. Not saying it will happen here - but its possible.

Because the market has a clear tendency to overshoot both to the upside and the downside. For this company, the market cap was factoring in high growth rates. But the market cap is now a quarter of what it was. If the interims are solid, this could bag from here, and it would still only be trading at half what it was before the trading update.

And don't frget, that trading update came just after a new CEO arrived. The temptation to get bad news out of the way straight off must have been strong. If there's more bad news, the temptation will be to get rid of the new CEO. But if he can demonstrate a stabilising situation with a pathway back to growth, he will be secure. And the market cap will recover a bit.

But only insiders know what will be reported on Monday, so its a gamble until then.

The human race will be extinct in 20 years, and in 25 years the non native population of Ireland will outnumber the natvies? Can't be both. I will confidently assert that the human race will not be extinct in 20 years or 50. Demographic forecasts show that population growth is slowing rapidly, and will be reversing in around 30 years. The second half of this century will see a greying of the world as people age and populations shrink. This will pose a lot of policy and economic questions, none of which are being prepared for.

On the green hysteria that is currently sweeping the world, I think its just a mass delusion of crowds phomenon. Remember back in the 80s it was all about saving the rain forests and the whales? No one gives a crap about them any more. If the electricity, heating and transport were switched off there would be mass protests. Its just the childer having some fun and aggravating the grown ups. Let them have their craic. When they have to pay the bills they'll think differently.

Delaying until after the EU elections so they don't give the greens anything to bang on about. Could come any time after.

It's a bit suspicious that Dccae posted this up AFTER some heavy selling of LOGP yesterday. I haven't looked up the relevant para of the EU directive. But given the last permit for this had to be pulled, I guess they have to dot all the is and cross all the ts, because the greenies are watching like hawks.

Got in touch with Dccae today. They replied, very promptly, thus:
"Consents have to go through a series of assessments as follows

(1) 30 day public consultation published on website with associated environmental documents
(2)EIA screening/assessment of EIAR; decision by the Environment Advisory Unit
(3)AA screening/assessment of Stage IIAA; decision by the Environment Advisory Unit
(4) After all considerations under the EIA and Birds and Habitats are completed by out by the Environment Advisory Unit, the proposals are considered by the Minister of State who decides whether to grant the consent (with conditions attached), if it is considered appropriate."

So, given that 1 has now concluded, and assuming An Taisce have not whined (no mention of doing so on their website) I guess we are in stages 2&3. They must have done these last time round, so shouldn't be too arduous to recycle the paperwork one would hope, and now waiting on stage 4, when the Minister returns from his Easter hols.

I agree, but as I understand it, Brid and co think Ireland, and indeed the world, should operate without using any oil or gas at all. Starting right now. The actual results of doing that would make the greatest mass murderers of history blench. But I guess they were just trying to do the right thing too.
