JSP123, the key metrics are market capitalisation (number of shares * share price) and enterprise value (market cap + net debt). It is possible to drill down into finer detail to get other metrics.
In terms of comparing companies, you need to look at what they're doing. But ABDX and ODX are in the same sector, doing very similar things. Placings are also helpful, indicating what the big boys are prepared to pay. ODX did a placing in July last year at 40p a share. ABDX in their IPO got 96p a share. Incidentally, ABDX has been around since 2008, but only on AIM this year.
Anyway, that's the bare bones of value investing. Both ODX and ABDX trade on AIM, with lots of private investors like you and me, so in the shorter term anyway, sentiment rules. I try to sell 9n euphoria, and buy on gloom. So I've gone large on NCYT and ABDX following their sharp markdowns. I believe they'll recover. I've been in and out of ODX over the last year, and currently out.
