Trying to keep my expectations in check but I'm allowing myself to get excited at the prospects. Certainly people are loading up today...

Anyone with any thoughts on this morning's sudden 5% share price rise?

What can I say? I bought in an hour ago and am already 2.5% down. Markets are very febrile when a large co. like this can drop this much on suppositions alone. If RELX goes to the dogs a lot of smart analysts are going to look very very dumb. Somehow I doubt it.

...have apparently been buying, now over the 3% reportable threshold per today's RNS. Would explain the recent rise, notwithstanding today's pull-back. Not yet a time to give up on this methinks...

Good old CMCL, back to exhibiting more beta than even the Junior Gold Miners Index on a down day.....

Well, a small rise in the sp, but then sold into. My take is that at least things are not worse, performance has not deteriorated. We all know the chemicals industry is suffering a bad cyclical low and in that context generating positive free cashflow is creditable. Sometimes things getting no worse can herald the beginning of a much awaited turnaround. Perhaps I'm in an over-optimistic mood, but I'm feeling marginally more hopeful this morning...

If you'd shot yourself in the foot as often as EKF has, you's surely be limping! I'm sorry you've sold half - I'd hate to lose yr input on these boards - but it is v understandable... money invested here feels like dead money and at some point, patience wears too thin.

Today's update is not going to provide a catalyst. Progress, but minimal and no mention of a divi. Did someone say plodding along??

Thanks Peleliu, particularly liked what it says about divis being "ultra covered" (I 'd thought so) and then management's willingness to pay the occasional 'special'. ...

Upped to 14.5% per today's RNS.

SP rose on the news but rapidly sold into.

As to what'll happen next, given management already plan a wind-up, I dunno. Popcorn out for me, but that's only because I have a small unsold investment left. Whatever happens, expectations are low.

Ok Bismarck, I had thought the handicap for gold going above $5k oz was rather more than that but I'll take yr word on it.

What is keeping a lid on CMCL's sp, I suspect, is the Royalties arrangement recently concluded with the Zim govt., where a step-up in monies payable kicks in when the gold price goes above $5k per oz. I was happy at the time but didn't foresee the gold price racing up this fast.... today it is $4,950. Does this not limit the upside?

It reads well to me too, so I'm a little disappointed to see such a muted reaction in the share price - which is still down over a week.

One word to describe the sp performance recently - ouch! With the constant daily declines, the company seems to be going down the plughole.

But I don't see why.

I don't know, but the shorters (9% of shares!!!) are making hay. Nothing in today's statement to give much hope either.

5% of shares short. One has to imagine a squeeze happened today. Happy to see that.

Provides hope that the larger litigation issue (v Ms Murray) can be resolved by agreement.
