It is cheery news.

In marked contrast to most of my other shares atm!

But I suspect this will be the 1st of many corporate actions within my portfolio this year if share prices remain so depressed.

Good news all around and surely not a time - yet - to cash out.

Lack of liquidity, lack of buyers, I must need my head checked holding any UK small caps (and let's be clear, where SYNT was once a mid-cap business, it's now decidedly in the world of minnows where nobody wants to fish). I can't see any catalysts right now and I actually worry if this company will ever generate enough cash to escape its debt trap anyway.

Not my finest hour (or anybody else's I imagine) investing in Synthomer - I ignored the warning sign of low-quality revolving door management who have allocated capital myopically year after year and I'm now getting what I deserve - a big fat investment loss. I just hope to goodness I learn my lessons from this one.

A fair and accurate summary NickRubens. The promised recovery of 3 years ago never materialised in the end.

Even a 9% divi yield isn't proving attractive atm.... presumably the market expects a cut there.

Yes, it's an astonishingly low hurdle when you consider where the sp has been. But then the subject of Directors' emoluments and the AIM market is a scandal worthy of a book in itself! However, ahem, one must leave the past in the past and look at the future with new eyes.... not sure how grizzled veterans of this stock are supposed to do that, but there does appear to be something brewing these last weeks.

The sp spiked over 70p early last year. Will we be presented with another get out of jail free card? I wouldn't mind.

How can markedly increased labour costs (min.wage, employer's NI) not be a tailwind for a company concerned with automation? And if the sp doesn't eventually reflect the value, they've said they'll take it to the U.S...

Well, that's two supposed catalysts - Fraser's management take-out and the sale of Soho to reduce debt - turning out to be damp squids.

And on we go, bobbling along the bottom, waiting for the next poor trading update.

To have even a chance of taking advantage of the value, one has to eventually get off the sidelines and take the plunge. That's what I've done today - added to my existing holding.

I've just got a feeling we're at or near the bottom in this sector. All the bad news is mostly in and digested: Trump as Pres; interest rates staying higher for longer; ESG push-back; NAV revisions; etc. If the higher for longer creates a recession next year, then rates will have to come down. Then the consistent revenue generating qualities of these Trusts will hopefully become more valued. Plus, we have a supportive govt to this sector in the UK, at least I think we have.

Best not to! Now under 19p, where will it end? The next news, which are the full year results in fact, isn't for another month.

All resolutions passed, but interesting to see the lower percentage which approved on director's remuneration and on the issue of equity to satisfy management's incentive scheme. Understandable.

On a more positive note, Richard Penny of Crux briefly name-checks RENX as a possible recovery play for 2025, in the category of "the most hated and despised companies this year". After 55 mins.

Where will the share price go next?

The acquisition point is a good one. Certainly preferable to taking it private for existing small holders. It's just a shame that UK investors - any investors really - shun small caps and force managements (and we investors) to think in these terms to realise value. Desperate times.

I don't know. He's a salesman - a requirement of a CEO of a company like Strix.

It's hopeful to see the odd new investor who sees value here, but the sp keeps bumbling along the bottom and making all-time lows. For longer-term holders such as myself, needless to say Strix has been a horror show. We're now 22% below my last top-up and yet I can't bring myself to add any more. My new fear is if the sp doesn't start reflecting the value on offer more adequately, they'll take it private.

I've got this one very wrong. I had thought that this was a quality business with a defendable moat in kettle controls at least, but it hasn't worked out that way.

Bought some this morning after yesterday's 8% drop... and, guess what? Another 8% drop today!

Let's see what happens here. UK markets are so febrile these days but, if logic has anything to do with it, the discount to the restated (lower) NAV is astonishing.

I also see the buyout of the management group as a good move - more sales channels for this trust at the very least.

(Sharecast News) - Analysts at Berenberg lowered their target price on Impax Asset Management from 560.0p to 510.0p on Friday after news broke that the group's mandate to manage St James's Place's sustainable and responsible equity fund was expected to end in February 2025.

Berenberg said the SRE fund accounted for roughly £5.2bn of Impax's assets under management, or approximately 14% of total AuM.

The German bank also noted that it understands that the mandate termination was primarily driven by St James's Place's desire to diversify SRE using an alternative investment strategy.

"We have updated our forecasts for Impax, with a c7% reduction in our FY25 EPS estimate and a c6-7% EPS reduction in the outer years. This assumes that the SJP mandate ends in Q225. We reduce our FY25 revenue forecast by c5% partially offset by a c4% reduction in operating costs," said Berenberg.

"Operating costs are lowered in our forecasts as Impax typically pays out c40-45% of pre-bonus profit as remuneration (our forecasts assume c43% is paid out in FY25)."

Suggests plenty of upside to reach this lowered price target.

I just added to my existing holding. Looks too cheap, balance sheet is fine, divi may be cut in due course but it won't be stopped. They are also in the process of looking to acquire investment teams outside of ESG, such as EM and fixed interest. Good recovery potential to me. Investhome's post confirms my thinking.
