Keep an eye on RYA share price as summer approaches with more cancellations, delays, disruption and higher prices. I imagine many people will just stay at home. Lots of talk about gov giving CAA more clout to impose fines or even gov directly fining airlines for poor service. I recently got compensation (EU 261 law) for a family flight delayed more than 3 hours - £220 pp and the flight only cost £36 pp. Took 7 months to get it though. Must be thousands doing the same.

Remember - if your flight is cancelled look into claiming compensation rather than accepting a voucher. If the airline don't offer a replacement flight then you may be quids in getting the compensation and booking elsewhere.

South Africans have condemned Irish airline Ryanair for making them take a test in the Afrikaans language on UK flights, calling it discriminatory.
The country has 11 official languages, and many say they cannot understand Afrikaans - a language which was imposed during white-minority rule.
The quiz contains questions on South African general knowledge.
Ryanair defended the test, saying it weeds out those travelling on fraudulent South African passports.
"Due to the high prevalence of fraudulent South African passports, we require passengers travelling to the UK to fill out a simple questionnaire issued in Afrikaans," it said in a statement.
"If they are unable to complete this questionnaire, they will be refused travel and issued with a full refund," the airline continued.
One person online described Ryanair's policy as "bigoted rubbish".
Another person told Ryanair that South Africa is "no longer in Apartheid". "Educate yourselves", the tweeter continued.
Only around 13% of South Africans speak Afrikaans as a first language, according to a 2011 census.

Additionally, escalating fuel prices (up more than 200% year over year in fiscal 2022) pose a threat to Ryanair’s bottom line. Total operating expenses rose more than 100% year over year in fiscal 2022, with a substantial increase in airport and handling charges, among other costs.

A penalty of €8.67million in damages against Ryanair has been upheld by the Paris Court of Appeal in connection with non declared work in France and the fraudulent use of E101 foreign worker employment certificates.
The ruling was published on May 13 but only made public to the interested parties a week later.
The judges ruled that the company had "voluntarily evaded social legislation" in France by means of "fraud".

Any ideas anyone? CNA not part of the windfall tax is it? Down 7% seems harsh.

After M&S reporting a 56% surge in online sales I'm confident of Debenhams making a real impact for BOO next results, especially as they pretty much started from nothing. The Deb's website has an extensive selection of home/clothing/beauty. Also M&S shift away from the High St will push even more footfall the way of online retailers which will benefit Boo's other brands. Shorters - prepare to get burned - I see good days ahead.

Good news for holders is that WPP are buying back shares at good value now.

Yeah I stand corrected - when I said last time I meant the rise in mid Feb which hit 132 then broke out to an intraday 141/142 which it couldn't hold. Maybe it will get there (141/142) again - I'm certainly surprised VOD is doing much better than I expected this year to date and revenues will be up on next comparisons. I expect selling pressure around 130s but could break out higher again. No crystal balls here either.

Last time it touched 132p it went on quite quickly to 141p ... and back then we didn't have UAE investing a huge chunk. With inflation eroding cash it's good to have a few high yielders in the portfolio.
