Purely anecdotal, but was talking to a colleague this morning, lamenting the massive drop here. He has two teenage daughters and his words were "they order a LOT from ASOS, surprised it's struggling based on my household!".

Now that I've had a chance to calm my nerves somewhat, a P/E ratio of 6.5 for a big online retailed like ASOS, seems insane. I know we have a potentially long and rocky road to navigate in the climb back up, but at these prices there HAS to be value here over a certain time period!

ASOS don't have 1.5bn debt. Come on... this is getting silly.

No, it's fine. I would rather hear realist views than unsubstantiated 'to the moon' type nonsense. Averaging down can just compound losses if you're not careful and 'buy the dip' isn't always good advice.

That view from Walletinvestor is a VERY sobering read. Yeah. I'll sit pretty for now and do nothing. It could well fall further. Temptation to sell is strong, but I know it's a dumb move.

A P/E of 7.1 for a retail company of this size does seem INSANE. Uugh, hard to know if I'm throwing good money after bad at this point. A small buy would get my average to £18 (approx fair value).

So... the question I guess many of us are asking ourselves is: Is it worth averaging down?

At this point I'm sitting on a large loss, but could average down quite considerably at these levels. I'm just starting to wonder if I'm chucking cash at something unnecessarily and just compounding losses. It's now clear the wait will be a long one for profits and the tide to turn.

Opinions welcome. The psychology of this is interesting (i.e. ****ing ouch), and hard to know what to do. Maybe 'do nothing' is best here.

I did a quick comparison and our trading update definitely compares favourably to Boohoo. One saving grace is that we are definitely ahead of the competition in terms of US and EU footprint. This has been / will be brutal today though, first experience of sitting on large losses and just got to hang tight and not do anything dumb.

So, last time we had a FED meeting a rate rise, we saw a small rally before the meeting, then a sharp drop off in the 2 days that followed. Do we expect to see the same pattern again? I think it's likely.

Looks like 0.75 basis point rise from FED incoming.

I will definitely be averaging down, just trying to decide when. Think I'll keep my powder dry for now and wait. We have the FED meeting and ECB mulling the bond markets. More rate rises seem likely, so I doubt this is the bottom.

I hate to say it, but I think it's possible this week.

Basically, expect more pain this year.

In this environment, doubtful. I've seen companies report good results and the SP go down.

Necrons have invaded a sovereign state. Intergalactic freight and supply chains are under pressure. The God Emperor of Mankind has declared that interest rates will raise by 0.5% or more. Recession is brewing in the darkness between the stars, the market can find no deliverance. There is no respite, there is no mercy.

In my short time in the market, I've learnt that often broker rating don't mean much, and they all have their own agenda.

Hey @Fireblade1. I'm am in EXACTLY the same the position as you. My average is pretty much the same, and I am in for a reasonable sum of money. I have been averaging down a bit when we hit the £12ish region. I am going to hold and stay on the sidelines as much as I can and try and keep emotion out of it. I will perhaps average down again, but I am in no rush as I see these lows lasting well into August-Sept if not longer.

I think, we'll all have to hang on tight and wait. ASOS is a solid company we just need patience. Go look at the historical 5 year chart, it seems to always come back from lows. I'd hold and try not to get too caught up in the market turmoil which is affecting all of us and many retail shares across the board.

Frustrating for sure. I honestly think it's a waiting game. If a good divi remains and they keep showing a steady recovery with focus on credit card business, I think it'll slowly tick up. Everything is a mess market wise right now unless you are in consumer staples or gas / oil.

FSS, here we go again. I may top up a bit if we hit sub 13.00.
