We have had some discussions with Ireland. Each jurisdiction will decide for themselves whether to accept it. Covid status certification is designed for entry to venues.
The scientific case. We have heard of a number of uncertainties.
Gove: It will show the risk of transmission diminishes with vaccines, lft tests and antibody status. It's about improving degrees of safety rather than absolute safety.
Susan Hopkins: PCRs give very high veracity. Lfts give good veracity if you have just taken the test.
What else will you do given uncertainties?
It's one of a number of measures that could be introduced.

Gove: Judgement is to what extent does it mean we can make some venues safer- taking protective measures into account vs virus transmission. If we go ahead because the balance of risk is good it will be a national program. We are talking to devolved administrations. Wales and Scotland see the potential and we have an agreement for work in progress including big football matches.

What about the EU ( agreeing the app)?
Yes, very confident. Committee jokes about Gove agreeing with EU.
What cost benefit analysis are you doing?
Gove: Obviously the benefit means that we can move ahead more safely with all kinds of eventsand activities. The cost of the app and the cost of testing are factors. There is risk of the event and travelling to the event- the vaccines will reduce the risk substantially-a negative lft reduces the risk again and if you have had a previous infection the risk is reduced again. The event trials are considering all kinds of events including nightclubs and travelling to venues. We will be sharing data when we can.

This is being raised in the EU. We defer to the scientific advice on this.

Thinking is influenced by public health data. They will advise parliament on it's return next week.
How do we ensure safety in that vaccination is not 100% safe?
Gove: Nothing is 100% safe. And the new Indian variant is a concern. With an antigen test and/or a test showing immunity we can be more confident.
When will the system be introduced?
In time for stage 4 of the roadmap. Still looking at the events trials data. Looking at how many people have got the app shows the popularity of the approach.
We will almost certainly require covid certification for travel. Still being discussed with other countries.
Why are we developing the app if it isn't yet agreed internationally?
Gove: We want the infrastructure there so it's available if agreement is reached.
Iceland has already agreed it. We think the US is extremely unlikely to reject the app.

Yes, ODX could manufacture the NHS lfts for Surescreen tomorrow, Mologic as soon as the Porton Down stage 3a is announced- though Mologic are also being fast tracked in the US so there's an additional market which is not dependent on a UK decision and/or for Avacta in the future once they pass Porton Down requirements. Which Avacta have not done yet.
ODX will be first off the blocks imho.

Rocquet, MHRA approval is required for home use. That's why we are still waiting at ODX. We got CE marks for all our tests.

Rocquet, the RNS from Avacta is dated 10th May. They look forward to getting MHRA registration 'in the coming days '. They haven't got it yet. The MHRA are slow so that's unsurprising. I am unsure of the difference between 'registration ' and approval. They won't get approval. Look at the Porton Down requirements for approval. They need 2000 samples. They are presenting 98. The Avacta annual report which is going to the AGM shortly, admits that they won't get MHRA approval atm because they haven't followed process.
I just don't get the loyalty of Avacta holders. I have a feeling that their sp will get smashed to bits before the AGM. I would bail now if I held them.

I think that's exactly what they will do. No coincidence that phase 3a evaluations have been formally announced today.

But probably is time for any final buys now. For me anyway. Feeling confident again in the light of some movement through phase 3 (final stage leading to handing over to the DHSC for decisions). And the fact that Surescreen are on the list and Hughes pricing policy and Hughes getting through with a lower sensitivity than Mologic.
There's no way Avacta are getting through Porton Down atm guys and gals. They require 1000 positive and negative test samples. 98 won't cut it. Avacta holders should consolidate profits in here if they are sensible.

Thx Megatro. The pricing policy is much lower for big orders. Still between £8.88 and £12.49 retail on this link is more like the Innova price I was expecting. Yes, Mologic's sensitivity is higher. The Porton Down spec is now more simply defined as 'very high' sensitivity and specificity. Wonder why Mologic isn't already through. Very slow process hey! Unsurprisingly by the sounds of the Dom's testimony today. So only 23 approved so far which will now be passed on for purchasing decisions according to the Porton Down site. Surescreen is also on the list and they are part of the RTC. So I guess we could go with them for the DHSC test if government decided they want to get on with it. But at this stage who knows what's going on.

The tweet is speculating that we are on for MHRA approval based on the coding at the NHS app which now has an instruction for home delivery for the ABC19 test. Good sign for sure.

Testing is being discussed but it's getting drowned a bit by Dom's drama with Dom the hero overwhelmed by the baddies.
