Investment decisions aren't made on today's high or low price. They are taken on a long term price projections. The normal market swings are factored into long term, capital intensive investments. I'm not convinced that lithium coming off the boil late last year and 1st. H this is relevant. The long term outlook for lithium remains bullish and that's what will be driving interest in Andrada, if in fact there still is interest.

Sirius Mineral, Weatherly, Frontier Mining, Tri-Star Resources, Horizonte Minerals, they were all fine supposedly plugging away ticking off the milestones until they weren’t. The one thing they all had in common! A share price that didn’t reflect their supposed progress. None of them, however, had a share price that cratered in the same way Andrada has done over a 12 month period when they were supposed to be making good progress.

I could list out a whole series of other anomalies in their reporting but to be honest I don’t have the time.

Lets hope this post will be seen as an honest assessment and not attract the usual knuckle head response of “de-ramping to get in at a lower price” response.

Over the last 12 months the MC of the company has collapsed from a peak of about £134m down to its current £59m. That has happened during a period when the company has moved forward in terms of what it produces, the amount it produces and the value of the product produced. That in itself should set the alarm bells ringing.

If you then consider the share transactions over the last several month with the consistent buying and selling of 250k and 500k chunks it presents a counter intuitive picture of the company’s recent performance. These share transactions are not a part of day to day trades that can be described as normal. They are far from normal.

If you then throw into the mix Viljoen’s eye watering comment you have to ask why it wasn’t put to shareholders to decide? Was it really eye watering? Was it a firm offer? If it wasn’t eye watering and/or firm then why make the comment at all? He must have known that investors would pick up on it? Viljoen has previous on this sort of thing. Why mention historical intercepts of 28% tin over 10 meters at Brandberg West if you are not going to follow it up with something that under pins and validates the comment.

19th. March 2024 RNS – “The proceeds from the Facilities will be primarily allocated to working capital, strategic growth initiatives, and the retirement of existing facilities. Details on the use of funds are set out below.” The funds are for “retirement of existing facilities” and they’ve provided “Details on the use of funds”. Have they? Where have they done that?

Then there’s the biggie, the appointment of Barclays to assist in helping Andrada choose the right strategic partner. Appointed 11th May 2023 the RNS included this “Neither an offer for the Company or a sale of the ML134 mining licence are options being considered as part of the Strategic Assessment.” So that puts to bed the eye watering comment. Viljoen decided that investor weren’t to be given the opportunity to decide on the eye watering figure being discussed for their company. The approach, according to the RNS appointing Barclays “……it is imperative that it collaborates with an appropriate strategic partner to realise value from this opportunity within the shortest timeframe.” Timescales in mining are never short but I would have thought 14 months would be enough time to pick out a suitable strategic partner.

But now, of course, that has all been turned on its head and we are now at “…..ongoing strategic discussions that the Company is currently undertaking. I look forward to providing updates as the transactions progress." A bit of déjà vu there is you don’t mind my saying.

I couldn't agree more sasa43. I think AV needs to think carefully about the things he says in future plus he needs to establish just exactly what is going on with the persistent suppression of the company's share price.

There's plenty of reasons to feel uncomfortable with this share at the moment and it's all of the company's own doing.

You honestly think that somebody has accumulated 405m shares in this pile over how many years? Current value £182k. Over previous years the share price has been much higher. To have accumulated 405m shares in and ISA with a current value of £182k given the disastrous performance of this share over the preceding years they must have started accumulating when God was a boy.

2024 £20k at the current share price of 0.0475 = 42m shares (approx.)

2023 £20k at an average share price of 0.1 = 20m shares (approx.)

2022 £20k at an current share price of 0.3 = 6.7m share (approx.)

2021 £20k at an current share price of 0.45 = 4.5m share (approx.)

And so on.

I've assumed anybody buying this heap of arze droppings wouldn't buy at the top or the bottom for that year but somewhere in between. The upshot, to accumulate 405m shares by solely buying in an ISA £20,000 worth every year is impossible.

The next fantasy will be that the 405m has been accumulated by trading within the ISA. Of course nobody can prove that this has been done in the same way nobody can prove it hasn't, the choice is yours.

The devil is in the detail.

Do you want sodium ion batteries with tin in the anode to take significant market share or even supplant lithium ion? Andrada's scope for increasing tin output seems limited to me whereas their lithium resource is vast. On top of that how much tin in the anode are we talking about? Look at what happened to cobalt in batteries when its price rocketed, the amount of cobalt was thrifted down and in some instances engineered out entirely.

The cure for high prices is high prices.

At the moment the amount of tin used in many applications is small. That means a doubling in the price of tin has a marginal impact on the cost the item in question. If the amount of tin in a sodium ion battery is a significant proportion of the overall cost of the battery then a doubling in the price of tin will see the material thrifted down or engineered out.

Good find Richyf3 but I think the tin anode/sodium ion battery story is very much in its infancy.

The Chinese are so far ahead that throwing our lot in with Europe, if that's what we've done, seems like the wrong choice. The Clean Technica article seems to confirm that.

We were both in Horizonte so it might be a hang over from that investment that's coloured my view here. I could be wrong but after reading the RNS and having closely followed things these past 12 months it seems to me like there's been a change in emphasis. Then again WTFDIK.

Sodium will be used in batteries which have a static applications. It will not replace lithium where weight to energy density is critical.

No mention of batteries, battery metals or EVs which is telling. Then there's this.

What do the other licenses have that Uis doesn't. I little bit of copper at Brandenburg doesn't change things much so that paragraph sounds like a lot of BS.

When I read stuff like this it usually means the wheels have come off something. I suspect the strategic partnership idea has hit the buffers.

Agreed. AV has been on the pot for far too long. When he first made the "eye watering" comment and brought Barclays on board to sift the wheat from the chaff it seemed like it was all going to progress to a positive conclusion with the minimum of effort. It now seems like its akin to trying to push a bowling ball through a letterbox. He either needs to explain the reasons for the delay or he needs to deliver.
