Echo that.
Car use bought as an annual subscription is the way forward. TAAS (Transport As A Service) has been predicted for years now. Tony Seba was the first person I'm aware of that predicted a fundamental change in the way we get around. Asset utilisation of private cars is incredibly low, less than 5%. Cars spend most of their time parked. A model, business or otherwise, that has an asset utilisation of less than 5% is ripe for disruption.
If you find this sort of thing interesting do a search for Tony Seba and listen to what he was saying 7/8 years ago then fast forward to now and gauge whether he has been on the money. He has a pretty impressive record in calling it right. Then look at what he predicts will happen from here on and the speed with which it will happen. And don't let anybody tell you that it can't happen in a recession because the transition from horse to car involved building a national road network, developing the oil industry, developing a car industry all during the first world war and, immediately after that, a global depression.
