As for Darya Dugina you're assuming that Putin had nothing to do with her death.

Meanwhile Citigroup Inc. strategists Adam Pickett and Benjamin Nabarro advised clients Wednesday to stay short sterling, writing that Truss’s plans to freeze energy bills are increasing market concerns over the country’s balance-of-payments position.

“The current account is being eroded by high energy prices and Brexit,” as the domestic growth picture remains weak, they said. “This is leading to capital account inflows drying up at a time when the UK needs them the most.”

State Street strategist Lee Ferridge cited a similar line of reasoning for ongoing pound weakness.

Truss’ plans are “going to expand the deficit and it’s going to be huge,” Ferridge said Wednesday on Bloomberg TV and Radio’s “Surveillance.” “You got a significant current account deficit in the UK, as well. You can’t have twin deficits both over 10% of GDP. That’s not a developed-market scenario we are used to.”

I'm not sure this is of interest any more but it was updated on 01/09/2022. A couple of differences on last months figures but it looks to me like somebody shifting a chunk from one nominee account to another, Barclayshare Nominees up by approximately 11.7m, HSDL Nominees down by 10.8m. HSBC and JIM Nominees both down by about 5m each. Remaining shareholders up by about 10m.

In essence its akin to the re-arranging of the deck chairs on the Titanic.

The post was in response to Ivornomoney's comment on the current situation and not the long term trend.

My comment on divergence is not in relatation to any long term trend for nickel but to the likelihood of the demand/supply relationship for Class 1 nickel and the demand/supply relationship for Class 2 nickel going in opposite directions.

If you look at the graph in the link below you’ll see the nickel price, in red, plotted against LME stocks plotted in orange.

There are plenty of examples over the last 14+ years or so where stocks in the LME have gone down while price has fallen and where stocks have risen at the same time as price.

Given the likely divergence in the demand for class 1 and class 2 nickel in the coming years I’d expect stocks in the LME to become even more disconnected from the price of nickel.
