So what is it you think you are saying? That the transition from predominantly hydro carbon generated power to renewables power should be as simple as switching a light on? That the transition will be instantaneous if it were genuine? That there should be no cross over as hydro carbons are phased out and renewables ushered in?

So far this year 13% of all cars sold worldwide have been pure EVs. By the end of 2022 the total number of EVs sold worldwide will amount to nearly 11m. 5 years ago that figure was just over 1.2m and that was for EVs and PHEV's combined. Adoption is/will be exponential.

I don't doubt we will still have a few ICE powered cars on the roads by 2040 even 2050 but they will be no more than a novelty.

The sale on new ICE cars in the UK will be banned by 2030. The only thing that the current goings on at Britishvolt is likely to impact is whether the alternatives to ICE that will fill the gap left by ICE cars are made in the UK or largely imports, most likely, from China.

We have become particularly adept in this country of late at shooting ourselves in the foot.

Fair comment. The fact that the main market could have let heap of crow zhit like this get away with what they have says only one thing to me and that's there's little or no difference between the main and junior markets.

Your assessment isn't quite right. They failed to hit the 7.2g/tonne the NI43-101 said they had and they never managed to increase through put to 1,000 tonnes per day. The last quarter of 2021, for example, they only managed an average of 510 tonnes per day at an average head grade of 4.8g/tonne.

Where I take issue with them is the bullzhit they came out with painting a picture that it was all sweetness and light when it clearly wasn't. Best management with masses of experience bull, the 8 Zone is going to blow your socks off, that sort of krap. They painted a picture of them being able to sail into production hitting nameplate at maximum head grade with ease and we bought into that.

Just a typical AIM listed miner, over promise and under deliver.

Hardly surprising given HPAL's history. It's all out there so its fairly easy to tap into what the issues are.

I think the nickel matte move at Araguaia more significant than I think some realise. It gives exposure to the EV battery market far faster than anything that can be achieved with Vermelho and at significantly lower cost and risk. So, actual exposure to the battery market in the near term and potential future increased exposure in the long term.

It all seems very attractive. Just a pity they gave away such a large part of the company, a company with enormous potential, at such a knock down give away price, twice.

You're a well researched PI. I don't believe you're not aware of the challenges HPAL operations experience. High pressures, corrosive medium, exotic metals. HPALs history is plagued with more disasters than successes. But then I'm pretty sure you know that.

The HPAL operations that have avoided some of the common pitfall and have successfully reached nameplate are the more modest in scale plants. I suspect that's the reason Horizonte has pitched Vermelho at a level a good bit less than the level Vale were proposing.

Because the problems encountered with HPAL increase significant with scale. I can't remember where I read it but if I can dig out the article on this particular issue I'll post it.

A more modest 25kt pa plant has a greater likelihood of achieving nameplate and of trouble free operation.

Corcel used to be Regency Mines one of Andrew Bell's dogs. Bell pushed Mambare, a nickel laterite deposit, for years. No takers. If you thought access at KM was difficult wait to you see where Mambare is located.

I don't think there's any question that an HPAL plants at Vermelho will have a CAPEX of over $1B in fact its going to be well over $1B. Controlling costs has always been a problem with HPAL but its not the only problem. Hitting name plate is the other big challenge.

Agreed. The biggest danger here for PIs now is the large shareholders. Their motivation is no different to anybody else's and that's pure self interest and a drive to maximise returns. They'll steer things which ever way they can to achieve that end. To think things are likely to be any different or that their motivation is not as described is painfully naive.
