With its planned Brexit measures, Greece is keen to protect a key part of its economy. That slipped last year by 6.2 percent to 1.9 billion euros ($2.18 billion), according to the Bank of Greece data. The number of British visitors fell by 1.7 percent to 2.9 million people.

The government wants to ensure that the numbers don’t slide further in case of a no-deal Brexit. To this end, among the measures Greece is considering is to maintain the visa-free status for people coming from the U.K. Also, Greece will probably retain the status of U.K. citizens living in the country and not treat them as so-called citizens from third countries, or people from non-EU countries, the official said.

So far, Greece has no extra provisions for expats if the UK leaves the EU without a deal. That means Brits can still apply for residence permits as usual. They can also apply for citizenship after living in Greece for seven years. That might be lowered to 5.

If a Brit buys a house for 250,000 euros or more, residency is guaranteed, as is citizenship.

About 45,000 British expats live in Greece fulltime.

Yes, but you see they still want our money though Lasttrain. Threatening to hold that back along with the prospect of no deal is still a massive bargaining chip. No argument from me about May being a remained though and for my money, therein lies the biggest problem.

For the simple reason that a willingness to walk away with no deal is the best weapon this Country has got . Using this means:

1. No £39 Billion divorce bill. They want that money more than we want to give it to them. And just in case you need reminding of this, but that is Taxpayer's money that will be meeting that payment. Money that you and everyone else is going out to work for.

2. If Junker and his chums believe that we are prepared to do this, I would bet my goolies they would quickly come back to the table and meet us half way.

Cereus, that would not surprise me. In one respect, I do have albeit a small level of empathy for T. May. She inherited the $hit storm left behind by Cameron. But that said, That's a where my empathy ends. She could have made a serious name for herself in the history books, along with other leaders such as Churchill, Thatcher et al if she was stronger willed. Just my opinion of course.

I agree about getting lucky though. Based on previous January divvis, I figure I got an extra 30 free shares this time. Chuffed with that.

I think things will recover. The drop in sp is more to do with political turmoil than how the conpany is run. Now is a great time for anyone sat on a pile of cash to get into shares at the moment if they are so inclined. Plenty of good companies out there at bargain prices at the moment.

That said, I'm holding on to my modest little portfolio. I will be adding to it as some point soon too when I can get my mitts on the 25% of my pension pot and quietly sit on them.

Well the item is covered by the Bias B'Stard Corporation so it must be 100% accurate.

Strange as well that the 3 named supermarkets are M&S, Sainsbury's & Waitrose. 3 of the dearest places to shop, so I can't see their shelves being depleted too much.
